Chapter 30 - 030: Are you going?
The afternoon sunlight was intensely magnificent, with beams restlessly leaping through the floor-to-ceiling windows into the living room, where it was very quiet except for the sound of the television.
The two of them sat on two sofas directly opposite each other, neither of them opening their mouths to break the silence.
Jiang Baizhou was eyeing the finance channel on the TV screen, while Cen Jin was holding her phone and chatting very animatedly with Lu Shishu on WeChat, as if she had almost forgotten Jiang Baizhou’s presence, until Jiang Baizhou suddenly stood up, startling Cen Jin to raise her head to look at him and instinctively ask, "Where are you going?"
"To draw the curtains, the sun is too bright." Jiang Baizhou glanced at her indifferently, walked to the floor-to-ceiling window, and drew the dark-colored curtains, instantly making the once very bright living room dim.
Jiang Baizhou turned around, looked at Cen Jin’s charming and pretty face, and after pondering for quite a while with pursed lips, he stepped forward again to the sofa, eyeing the phone in her hand, and with a frown, voiced his displeasure: "Who are you chatting with?"
"Shi Shu!" Cen Jin’s face broke into an awkward smile and replied, thinking there was no need to tell him the details of her chat with Lu Shishu. Just as she finished speaking, a WeChat notification sounded, and Cen Jin looked down again, pausing for a moment before she could reply to the message. But Lu Shishu sent another message that made her halt her typing hand. A few seconds later, she looked up again at the composed and indifferent Jiang Baizhou, hesitating to speak: "Uh... Shi Shu just messaged me, saying tomorrow’s the weekend. The class monitor said there’s going to be a class reunion and asked if we want to go together?"
"Class monitor?" Jiang Baizhou narrowed his long eyes, thinking for a moment: "High school class monitor Yu Feici?"
"Yeah, yeah."
"Not going."
Jiang Baizhou withdrew his gaze and looked at the TV screen, ruthlessly refusing. Yu Feici organized these class reunions every year, but since everyone went off to college after twelfth grade and went their separate ways, many had jobs no longer in Nancheng, some even studied abroad and chose to develop their careers overseas.
