Chapter 443 - 293: Explosion
Despite Rod’s logical arguments, neither the King nor Horus agreed with his opinion.
It was simply too heretical.
Under the protection of the King, this strategy might have been successful; some clearly tarnished individuals being killed by a hero acting out of a sense of justice wasn’t an unforgivable sin. Moreover, Rod had all but secured his place in the Fire Hall. For Royal City, which was in dire need of high-level combatants, such a mistake was not irreversible and could be forgiven.
However, the King intended to shape Rod into an even greater image, to become a banner for Royal City, just like Alan.
Such a blemish was absolutely unacceptable.
But Rod didn’t really want to become such a public figure, burdened with the image of an idol.
He tried to convince them.
"King, you know, I used to go by the name ’King of the Sewers’, I spent my days killing vermin like maggots and rats in dirty environments—not at all high-end. And my reputation isn’t very good. In the past, orig... cough cough, my occasional visits to the Red Workshop district are well known; now everyone knows I’m an old lecher... a person longing for the affection of the opposite sex, my reputation is already difficult to turn around."
