Bassena was standing near the head of the examination bed, so he couldn’t see Zein’s face right away. But the guide hadn’t been moving or reacting at all, eyes only looking at the monitor facing them.
What is this? Is he not happy? As expected, is it too much for him to have twin boys? Are they reminding him of his little brothers?
All kinds of questions full of worry swirled in Bassena’s mind, but the answer could only come by direct inquiry. Swallowing nervously, Bassena held the guide’s shoulder and carefully tried to look at that pretty face. "Z-Zein? Are you al--"
"Twins..." the guide, who finally got out of his daze, muttered. He turned his head toward Bassena and stretched his lips wide. "We have twins!"
A pair of sparkling blue eyes, blush spreading across lifted cheeks, and a smile...a smile so radiant Bassena’s heart stopped for a second, before beating increasingly fast from how beautiful that face was. Bassena had no idea that his already pretty fiance could become even more beautiful, splendid, ethereal...
Wait--this wasn’t the time for that.
"Oh..." Bassena opened his mouth dumbly. "Yeah..."
"Haha!"
Despite the obviously dumb look on his fiance’s face, Zein was laughing lightheartedly. Even the nurses were blushing, feeling the room got brighter suddenly. The small laughter sounded like a melodious ring of a bell, clear and soothing.
And not at all what Bassena expected.
He had thought that having twins would traumatize Zein, or at least make him sad. Knowing the guide, it might seem like a cruel twist of fate. Honestly, Zein would have thought so if it wasn’t for the vision and the dream he had.
