Chapter 570 - 564. Integration
After wandering around the cliff area, Jock came back with his topography data and compiled everything during the meeting after breakfast the next day.
"This place is a hill. There’s a way down not far from the edge of the forest path. It’s not hard too, almost like a leisure trail," he started by opening the map he had drawn last night on his commlink. He activated Mortix’s newest program and a three-dimensional map appeared in the middle of the dining table.
"Oh? No hurdle?" Han Shin, whose physical ability was worse than Zein these days, perked up. He was getting tired of maneuvering through cliffs, uneven landscapes, and swamps.
"No, and the trees are not as thick as usual; they looked more like normal trees outside too," Jock glanced at the two shards that had been together since yesterday, having a reunion on their own. "Maybe because of the shard? I think that’s why the fragments came here to check, but they couldn’t find anything anyway."
Han Shin clapped his hands mirthfully, letting out a sigh of satisfaction. "Aah...isn’t that refreshing?"
"For sure," the others agreed. Bassena, especially, was making a satisfied expression like someone ready to purchase some land for real estate.
How long had those two fragments roaming around trying to find the shards all this time? Zein knew for a fact that the shard kept the Specter core intact and let it heal just to provide more cover while waiting for Zein to come. Indeed, that one was very smart, probably even more than the core.
Jock continued his report, pointing at the map and drew a crescent at the edge. "The cliff is directly against the sea, and there’s hardly any shore down there, just rock and seawater."
Han Shin tilted his head. "So, the ship won’t come through here?"
"Who knows? It’s not like they’ll only take a shore route," Bassena said, looking at the temporary map. They couldn’t know which side this cliff was; was it closer to the north, or closer to where the ship team started their advances? It was impossible to tell because they couldn’t the shoreline. "At any rate, we’ll leave the beacon as usual."
"Ah, I’m not sure yet, but I think we can connect this area with the lake from the first one," Jock zoomed out the screen and there was a familiar map on the left side of the current map. It was the biggest map consisting of their first and fourth area. On the rightmost side of the bigger map, there was a lake and a blurry marked border. "I think the lake is also connected to the sea through an underwater passage."
