There's No Love In the Deathzone (BL)

Chapter 287 - 279. Pictures

"That kind of announcement like you were thinking about is made for the public," Bassena explained as they walked through the electronic aisle. "The government will announce it through a press conference, and the ’contract’ will be signed in front of the camera, along with handshake and whatnot."

"So that’s what the invitation is for?" Zein huffed. "Felt anti-climatic."

Bassena laughed at the way Zein had been annoyed about the announcement. It was so abrupt and died down just like that. A letter of invitation came and Radia called an emergency executive meeting. Once again, they would have to keep their silence until the official announcement tomorrow before breaking the news to the rest of the guild members.

"Well, it’s just like the time when they announced about the project itself, right? The guilds who participated already knew from a closed-door conference, and the rest of the population only knew about it after the candidates had already been chosen," Bassena shrugged.

"Hmm..."

Bassena chuckled and nudged the guide with a grin plastered on his face. "Isn’t it good that we have a bit of free time because of it?"

Zein glanced at the esper and smirked. "You like it because you don’t have any more TV shows after this,"

Now that they had a confirmation that the project was in their hand, Trinity stopped every non-raiding activity going forward for those who were included in the project. They would finish what they had promised so far, but there wouldn’t be any more new work from now on. All their activities would be focused on the final preparation before they marched to the Deathzone in early summer--which was the estimated time Mortix production line could finish the latest version of the purification device.

Thanks to Zein’s communication with the shard, the lab team could decipher the way it broke down the miasma more effectively. They could even find a way to utilize the shard by making a mobile pedestal for it so they could establish a small safe-zone base in the Deathzone--one that would be even larger than its original radius before they took it away from the underground city.

Anyway, it would mean Bassena only had two more jobs left, and he could stay in the guild training the espers, and seeing Zein whenever he liked.

"Wrong! I like it because I don’t have to be away from you anymore," Bassena smiled widely, not even hiding how delighted he was for having time for a nice little date.
