Chapter 767: THEIR WORLD COLLAPSED (8)
Despite all the turmoil that was going on and how important the time was for the alpha to do everything quickly and efficiently, he still spent half an hour stood in front of a closed door to a certain room. He stared at the door with impassive expression. One couldn’t have guessed the depth of his thought by this time.
Even after he took his time to gather his courage and finally opened the door, the alpha didn’t immediately go inside. He stared inside. It was only a normal room. Fire in the fireplace ward off the cold and gave some light in this gloomy room.
But the alpha Eyes fixed on the cot in the middle. He stared for a good ten minutes before he found extra strength to walk inside and faced the reality.
Inside the cot was his baby. His lovely baby. His dearest little one. His steps were slow and heavy, as if he had to go through thousand of blade under his feet if he wanted to come closer to his daughter.
They had not yet really healed from their first lost, but now in less than a month, they had to go through the same agony again. The pain and misery were inconceivable.
Cane remembered his little pray every time he kissed his mate and their babies, even when they were still in their mother’s tummy, but there was nothing worked. He still lost them and he was on the verge of losing his mate too.
Cane had seen so many women lost their mind after losing their baby and Iris was walking in the same path right now. He wanted to do the same, maybe only then he could feel a little bit better, because the burdened and responsibility on his shoulders was too much, the weight almost crushed him.
Cane balled his fists when he finally caught a sight of his little angel. She was sleeping. He hoped she was only sleeping. He gripped the cot tightly, because he felt like he was going to lose his balance, his legs were so weak and he was alone now.
When they lost Crystal, he had Iris by his side and he had to be strong for both of them, but right now he was alone, inside this quiet room with his dead baby.
"I am sorry, I failed you..." That was the only thing that he could say to his daughter before he stretched his arms and gathered his strength to pick her up. The baby was cold and heavy in his arms. It felt not right.
But then, there was nothing right at this point.
