Chapter 616: A SINCERE APOLOGY
Iris didn’t know why she was crying like this and why her emotions were all over the places, but she was very upset for what alpha Nolan tried to imply. She was tired of listening how they belittled her and compared her.
Before, it was Sofia, who tried to put herself in the picture and now alpha Nolan tried to bring up the topic about his daughter, who was no other than Cane’s destined mate.
Iris didn’t want people started talking about her, not because she disliked the woman she had never met, but because she didn’t want to be compared again. These people would remember Leane along with the event how she died and it would be Iris, who received their hatred again.
Whatever she did, she would never be enough. She thought, she had given up and was no longer care, but it still pained her to be wronged for something she didn’t do.
Even so, she felt so bad to even think she didn’t want them to remember Leane and compared her with Cane’s decease mate, which resulted for her to be hated again.
The more Iris thought about it, the more she felt bad. She was very depressed and upset with the whole thing.
"I don’t like him," Iris whimpered against Cane’s chest, while he held her in his arms. Both of them were sitting on the ground, next to the sleeping white bear. Lil Thing’s ears twitched when it heard Iris cried and opened it eyes.
"Okay," Cane said lightly, as he caressed her back and kissed her forehead. He came here to let her knew that her provocation almost caused trouble and a bloody fight, he also wanted to know why she reacted that way, since it was so out of character for his mate. He could understand if Iris used to be like that, but she was not.
And now, he was thrown out of guard when he ended up comforting his crying mate.
"Did what Nolan say really bothered you?" Cane asked gently, as he cradled her, while Lil Thing stretched its body and stared at both of them, its small eyes were still sleepy, but they filled with curiosity too.
Iris nodded. "He wanted me to be hated by your pack member again..." she sniffled, but a little bit calm now. "And the fact I am still not pregnant..."
