Chapter 606: HIDDEN INTENTION AND SCHEMES
"Alpha Nolan, may I know what are you doing here?" Cane asked darkly, his black eyes fixed on the man in front of him.
"I only want to greet your new mate, Cane. You don’t need to be so hostile. It’s not like I am going to harm her with a lot of warriors that you put around her." Alpha Nolan shrugged his shoulders nonchalantly. "She said she will show me the bear and I am so interested to see the creature."
"I will show it to you," Cane said curtly.
Seeing this, alpha Nolan chuckled lightly. "Luna Iris, you should get used to the alpha’s overprotective nature. He did the same thing to my daughter too. He was even willing to give up hundred of magic stone for Leana to stay in his pack." He clapped back with the way Iris talked to him earlier.
What alpha Nolan was trying to hint was so clear as day, he compared Iris and Leana. No, he wanted to say the treatment Iris received was still not on par with the way Cane treated his daughter. He tried to subtly create a discord between them, to see how this couple would react.
"Are you trying to remind me of how you tried to sell your own daughter for a couple of hundred magic stone? Because that’s the attitude you showed my father when you suggested the price for Leane to stay in the pack," Cane replied. He looked so calm, that kind of calm before storm and this room was too small to be able to withstand it.
Cane stretched out his hand and pulled Iris to his side, while the warriors looked so tensed outside of the room, they were ready to jump and secure Iris and Zale if things went south, because they believed their alpha would be able to handle alpha Nolan.
But surprisingly, the young boy didn’t show any sign of fear at all, he stared at the two alphas back and forth. He felt a little bit better, but he still looked pale, yet his eyes shone brightly when he watched the tension situation before him and this didn’t go unnoticed by Cane.
Strangely, this young boy had a gut bigger than some full fledge warriors.
"Oh, you misunderstood me, Cane." Alpha Nolan still conveniently forgot how to address Cane properly. "I thought that was a decent amount for a betrothal gift for my dearest daughter. I have never thought you will see it as me selling Leana away to you."
Iris could sense how tensed up Cane was. It was not like him to be so riled up, he had been very adamant for her not to meet with alpha Nolan and here they were, cramped in a small room with a subtle of hostility and bitterness in the air.
