Chapter 479: A HORRENDOUS NIGHT
"Damn it! Damn it!" Jace growled when he heard the howling in the distance. He gritted his teeth and stared at the sky. It was a new moon. He was worried about Cane too and what was happening on his end, but right now, he couldn’t think about anything else, aside from ways to survive this battle.
Those warriors were almost immortal! How could they not die? Unless they cut their heads off in one clean move or ripped their hearts out, they would heal so fast, even for a shifter, the speed of their healing was insane.
In the distance, a warrior shifted back into his human form and approached Jace and Redmond hastily. His expression was one of sheer panic and mortification. "Beta Jace!" He called with a shaking voice. "The enemy has managed to break into the pack and now they are marching toward the pack house!"
"What about the pack members, have they all been evacuated?"
"Yes," he replied, but then he looked hesitant.
"What is it? Do you still have time to be hesitant about saying something at a time like this?!" Redmond snapped, he was extremely agitated. He was so hurt by the betrayal, but to kill those people, who had fought beside him for decades still didn’t settle well with him either.
However, the situation forced him to do so and he knew he was doing the right thing. He knew where he stood and he made it clear.
The warrior glanced at Redmond and spoke with a little bit of hesitation. "I think your warriors know where the safe place is. It doesn’t matter even if we relocate the others. If they manage to kill us all, it will only be a matter of time before they find the rest of the pack members and slaughter them too."
That was true. If their intention was to execute them, they wouldn’t spare a single soul and now with the Alpha away and the steady deaths on their part, their morale decreased significantly, though Jace tried to keep it up, it was clear to see how the Beta was also under a lot of distress.
