The Alpha: Claiming His Enemy's Daughter

Chapter 414: BEING CONSIDERATE

Because the King would arrive in three days, they were arranging a small welcoming party for him, since it was a custom to greet the sovereign.

But, using the current situation as an excuse, so as not to provoke tension in the public, they decided to hold the welcoming party moderately. Especially after the death of the five alphas and with the five packs’ problems they needed to sort out looming over them, toning down a little bit on having his lust met would also help make the King look good.

After all, he brought Lady Cyan and Nala with him, accompanied by his chief of royal guards, Leon.

Iris’ mood turned even sour when she heard Nala’s name among the entourage of the King. She was not so dense as to not see the desire in that woman’s eyes for her mate.

Her mood became even more dour when Kaz suggested her to be the coordinator of the party, since it was her job as the Luna of the pack and she couldn’t refuse it.

It would look bad on her if she rejected the suggestion, especially when that old steward brought it up in front of Alpha Dristan and Sir Elijah.

People were already seeing her as a failure because she couldn’t conceive a child with Cane even after all this time, not to mention all the time they spent together, thus she didn’t want them to see her fail in her position as the Luna of the pack as well.

"You don’t need to do it if you don’t want to," Cane said. Unconcealed amusement danced in his eyes when he saw how Iris pulled at her hair in frustration.

They were inside the Alpha’s study, where Cane was overwhelmed with a lot of things that needed to be done. He didn’t seem to have time to rest and tended to spend most of his time in the study room rather than in his own room with Iris.
