Chapter 412: THE BEATING HEART
After Cane sorted out a few things and settled Alpha Dristan, Sir Elijah and their men, he went to the bedroom and found Iris already fast asleep. She curled herself on the edge of the bed, while her auburn hair scattered on the pillow.
Cane approached her and kissed her forehead, as he shifted her to the middle of the bed, worried she might fall if she slept too close to the edge.
After that, he cleaned himself and went to bed with her.
He pulled her closer to him and buried his face in the crook of her shoulder, breathing in her scent, as Iris let out a small whining voice, while still asleep.
Only then, Cane felt at peace and he could get the rest he needed.
In the morning, Cane was woken up by an unfamiliar smell, as he felt someone enter the bedroom. Thinking it must be one of the maids, who brought breakfast, he didn’t think much of it.
However, when this person came closer, Cane was alerted, he opened his eyes and didn’t move at all. Iris was still fast asleep by his side, comfortably snuggling into his chest, as her warm breath caressed his skin and her lips stayed glued to his neck.
Cane’s dark eyes turned sharp when he felt this person walk closer and closer and before whoever it was could touch him, he caught their hand and pushed them away.
"Ah!" Sofia screamed when she was pushed away suddenly. Thankfully, she could steady herself in time before she could fall and harm the baby in her stomach. "Al- alpha!" She stuttered to see Cane was already in a sitting position, glaring at her with so much viciousness.
