The Alpha: Claiming His Enemy's Daughter

Chapter 373: SHE WAS SO NUMB

The original plan was to make Iris stay with him, until they returned to the capital city, but looking at the current condition coupled with what happened to her, while the plan had changed completely, it would be better for Iris to go back to the Howling Wolf pack first. The journey would only take half a day. She would be fine.

However, to Cane’s surprise, Iris refused to leave.

"You want to see his dead body?" Cane asked, to make sure he heard her right. This was the last thing he thought Iris would ask him.

He saw it with his own eyes how afraid this girl was when he killed Vemion in her presence, she was shocked and couldn’t utter a word.

But right now, she asked him to take her to see Gill’s dead body?

"Yes. I want to see him... if he really died." Iris’ voice trailed off, she stared at Cane, but her gaze was so distant, as if she was seeing something else instead. "I don’t want to go back. I want to stay here."

Cane studied her for a while. He contemplated this weird situation and her strange behavior. He could understand if she spent her waking hours crying and feeling depressed, but instead, she looked like she was numb.

"Okay." Cane nodded. "But, you need to eat your breakfast first."

Iris didn’t say anything and with that, Cane asked someone to deliver their breakfast, of which Iris ate only a few spoonfuls before she pushed it away and he needed to coax her to eat some more, but Iris kept shaking her head.
