Chapter 299: THE ENEMY OF MY ENEMY IS NOT MY PROBLEM
"You are late," Lou said, feeling annoyed when he saw Alan. He tapped his feet impatiently as he looked at the Prince. There was no trace of respect in the way the merchant acted, as if he had been waiting for someone of lower rank, instead of the Crown Prince of the kingdom.
He became so smug only because he knew how desperately the King wanted him to start the construction of the magical devices around the capital city. This was also one of the King’s ways to reassure the people that everything was still under control and they were safe in the city. It calmed them down a little bit, but they were still skeptical and the tension was still so high.
Especially with the people from the Red Claw pack demanding the King to find the fourth prince as soon as possible. The situation became even murkier than the King could handle, forcing himself to rely heavily on Cane to fix all the problems, by giving him the title of the king’s special emissary.
"There are a lot of things I need to do, I am busy." Alan was tasked with forming a good bond with Lou, but he didn’t think he could do it. Their personalities simply clashed with each other’s, more so, the Crown Prince was not really smart to control his emotions and ego, he let his anger spiral out of control and put himself in trouble, oftentimes.
"Well, if you don’t have time, you can go back to where you came from, but don’t tell me to wait for you." Lou turned around and walked along the high wall of the capital city.
This wall encircled the capital city, it was a fortress to defend against the enemy attacks, especially monsters. It was very absurd for those monsters to appear in the palace, while the palace was placed in the center of the city. There was no sign the monsters broke through the wall and the portal was still under the investigation of the royal magic users.
However, there was no way they could link it back to Lou.
Alan stopped the merchant, he blocked his way before he climbed the stairs to the watchtower, one of the eight spots they intended to install the magic devices on this wall, which surrounded the capital city. They call this wall the Great Ogregon.
"I know you dislike Cane." Alan went as far as calling Cane without his title, showing how much he looked down on him.
