Chapter 1167: Ghost
Axel quietly stepped into the elevator, going down. The moment the door shut closed, his expression was nothing but pure horror. His meeting with Florence was longer than he expected, but he also found out a thing or two about her reasons.
’She is... Hera’s auntie,’ he recalled, his jaw tightening. ’And she wants Hera dead because if not... the four families will use her to take her down.’
Axel slowly balled his hands into a tight fist. Although Florence spared him the complicated details of the Five Secret Families, what was clear to him was that this wasn’t good for anyone. They wanted Hera, dead or alive.
Axel heard his own gulp ring in his ear, recalling more of his discussion with the Madam. After all, Axel had to be thorough if he wanted Florence to see him as her ally.
According to Florence, she didn’t send Dane to infiltrate the Zhu Family. It was all Dane’s plans. When asked how could he trust her, she only said she didn’t need him to trust her. After all, if Florence wanted Dominic dead, she wouldn’t have waited until Dominic was capable enough to pose a threat to her.
She also said Dane was simply looking for someone and that his decision to be Dominic’s assistant was a decision he made on his own accord. Dane wouldn’t be on the radar while doing his business and he had plenty of time to look for what he was searching for. And to clarify things, she barely helped Dane when the man had no one else to turn to.
Florence’s interest in Dane was not because of the Zhu Family, but because of Dragon. She didn’t even see the Old Madam Zhu as a threat as she said, "Old Madam Zhu had already gone asinine." Though she admitted she was now poking her nose in the Zhu’s business because Dominic was interesting and that the Old Madam Zhu hadn’t lost her will to live her ’pathetic’ life.
In other words, Florence wanted control not just over the Four Families who had been pressuring her, but also outside of their little world.
