Chapter 1156: Assassins
"No one comes in here and gets out without Hera’s permission. I forgot to tell you that when I invited you in."
The men that came along with Ulysses immediately shifted their guns in Ram’s direction. However, neither of them pulled the trigger as the young man raised a hand. Ulysses kept his eyes on Ram’s figure, unfazed by the fire and smoke outside or the weapons pointed in his direction.
"Put down your guns," said Ulysses, keeping his eyes on Ram’s. "Doing that will not change a thing."
"Young Master," one of the guards called, his expression sour.
"I came here with as little guards as possible, knowing I am risking my life by doing so," Ulysses remarked solemnly, his kind and friendly smile gone. "I did so to show my sincerity to Hera. If she couldn’t see that, then I’m aware death awaits the three of us."
The young man breathed out, resting his hand on the armrest. "Don’t you dare meddle with my resolve."
Reluctance shone in his bodyguards’ eyes, but they eventually placed down their guns. When their hands were free of any weapon, they raised them as a sign of surrender. They looked at the people around them, and yet, the hostility in Hera people’s eyes remained the same.
"Quite remarkable for such a young man," Ram mused. "I do hope you’re not cutting your life short because Hera isn’t the type to hold back."
As soon as those words rolled out of Ram’s tongue, the entrance of the mansion was kicked open with a bang. Ulysses flinched at the noise, turning his head in the entrance just like how his guards did. There, standing by the door, was a woman with a pair of glowering eyes that could make anyone gulp at first sight.
’She...’ Ulysses gulped nervously, starting to feel this unknown fear that he had never felt before. ’... isn’t like the rumors. Compared to what I am seeing, the rumors about her make her look like a saint..’
Though young, Ulysses could confidently say he had seen a lot back home. However, this was the first time someone made him feel small, the first time he felt this strong aura, even though Hera hadn’t done anything to him yet. No wonder she was named in the last will of the late master of the Oxley Family.
