Chapter 1136: MOM
[FLASHBACK]
"Mom?" Sixteen-year-old Hera looked at the gorgeous woman eating across from her. "How did you know Dad is the one?"
The beautiful middle-aged woman slowly chewed the steak while looking at her daughter. "That’s an interesting question."
"He was your target," Hera shrugged indifferently. "Why didn’t you kill him?"
"If I killed your father, I wouldn’t have given birth to you."
"And you regret giving birth to me."
"That is only because I realized you deserve better than the life we could give you," Felice clarified playfully before she took a sip from the wine. "At this age, you could’ve been out in a club, partying with your friends. Meeting boys I would never approve of, arguing with your mom, and blaming me for every little failed decision you make."
Hera laughed while Felice placed down the glass of wine.
"But instead, here you are, dining with a middle-aged woman in a restaurant I booked for the rest of the night. And the reason is not because I like privacy or because I have plenty of money to burn, but because I’m scared someone will put a bullet in my head before I can even have a taste of this steak." Felice looked around the empty fine-dining restaurant. "What makes you ask that question, Hera?"
"I’m curious."
Felice chuckled, studying her daughter’s face, which shared equal features of her father and hers. "I almost killed him, you know?"
