Chapter 1125: First day in her secretarial position
"Here are all the files you need to read and memorize." Dominic dropped a stack of documents in front of Ivy. "I need you to learn all of them by the end of the day."
Ivy gazed at the mountain of paperwork she had to memorize. "Reading all of them shouldn’t be a problem, but memorize?"
"Every word of it."
She slowly gazed up at him, her mouth falling open. She was hopeful to see the slightest sign he was joking, but there was none. Dominic was serious.
"Are you... punishing me?" she blurted out in disbelief. "Because you were forced to take me in, anyway?"
Dominic sighed deeply.
"If that is what you think, then quit now," was his only answer, putting another handful of documents on top of the mountains of documents. "The first ones were documents from the previous administration and for the transition. I already worked on them, but you should know every single bit of it. As the minister’s secretary, you have to learn my every little move and decision I made and will make."
"And these files were personal files about me," he continued.
"That includes my medical files, my finances, my divorce, people who aren’t fond of me, people I’m associated with, and prospective people I could be friends and enemies in the future," he added in one breath. "One doesn’t outweigh the other. Both works are just as important."
"I’m not giving you a hard time, Ivy," Dominic added. "As much as I hate to admit it, but Dimitri is the only one who did the job well."
Dominic raised his brows at her before walking back to his office. Ivy pressed her lips into a thin line, watching him from her small desk, which was right next to Dominic’s. A transparent wall and door was the only thing that was separating their office.
