Chapter 1052: Lunch money
"Any last words?"
That question sounded like a chain everyone heard locking. It sounded just as deadly as a death sentence. Everyone who had been working for Ram could only look at Hera and Ram with wide eyes. They held their breaths, knowing Hera Cruel wouldn’t change her mind.
Much to everyone’s dismay, instead of fear, a peaceful smile slowly dominated Ram’s face. His eyes softened, a rare expression that ever appeared on his face.
"It’s an honor to die in your hands, Hera."
Ram’s voice was quiet and gentle, keeping his attention to Hera. If not for that look on his face, they would think this was a trick. But by the looks of it, he already accepted his end. And he was just pleased the person who would take his life was Hera, not anyone or anything else.
Hera didn’t even blink at his remarks. She watched him look at her affectionately, welcoming the bullet with open eyes. It was as though he would rather see her face a little longer than close his eyes, never to open them again.
"Hah," Hera smirked, and without a second hesitation, she pulled the trigger.
BANG!
Everyone’s breath hitched, and time seemed to stop for a moment. They didn’t even blink, hearts dropping to their stomach alongside the deafening shot. Silence ensued, only that remained were the fading echoes of the gunfire.
When they realized Ram was still standing, they instinctively turned their heads in Hera’s direction. There, holding the pistol in Ram’s direction, thin smoke billowed from the muzzle.
"There’s never an honor in death, Ram," Hera remarked quietly, holding Ram’s gaze. "I must admit I’m impressed. You didn’t even blink when I pulled the trigger."
