Chapter 979: Be back later
Meanwhile...
Standing beside the bed, Moose stared at Heaven intensely. He glanced at the monitors near his vantage point and then at the equipment connected to her. Last night, she woke up for a brief moment and almost had a cardiac arrest. Although they were able to stabilize her vitals, she almost died.
As a doctor, he could only hope that wouldn’t happen again. She might die next time.
"I can’t even tell you you should’ve been careful," he murmured under the protective mask. "Things are bad here, boss. They’re very bad."
His jaw tightened, recalling the news he just heard from one of his men. According to them, they heard that Wolf was arrested. Neither Bear nor Dominic contacted them, but Moose’s intel in these types of things was faster. The news could’ve reached Dominic or not, but that didn’t matter.
"Back then, you gave me a hard task." Slowly, Moose lifted the pistol in his hand and pointed it at the unconscious patient. "You said I should make sure you’re dead if problems arise before you were buried."
He carefully placed his finger on the trigger, eyes fixed on Heaven’s face. "Should I do that now?" he wondered to himself.
If Heaven died, then she wouldn’t have to suffer anymore. Not just Heaven, but all the people who were hopeful for her recovery wouldn’t have to suffer. They wouldn’t have to wait for her, nor would they get hurt for long.
It was one of Heaven — or rather, Hera’s orders to him in the past.
When she was slowly "dying" on her deathbed, Hera had one worry. She was worried that the mercy kill wouldn’t work. She knew if it failed, Bear would be under fire. After all, everyone except Bear opposed the idea. They wanted to keep her alive even if she could no longer get out of bed on her own.
"The situation in the past... is the same now," he whispered, recalling how he refused to do the order. "If I had done that, would this all happen? Did I fuck up your second life, boss?"
Seeing her lying in this bed with all these machines and tools to keep her alive was not a pleasant thing to see. For sure, Heaven didn’t want to see herself in this situation. His grip on the pistol trembled, clenching his teeth as he closed his eyes. But instead of pulling the trigger, Moose dropped his hand to the side and sighed deeply.
