Chapter 966: They got him
[Secluded health facility]
Dominic sat quietly in the small chapel inside the facility. His eyes were fixed on the cross on the altar. He didn’t know how long he had been here, but he was sure it was longer than an hour.
’Why am I even here?’he wondered to himself for the umpteenth time. ’I just killed someone — a few people today. So, why am I here?’
When Dominic arrived in this place, there was a small part of him that believed everyone was simply overreacting. His wife was strong, and thus, it was almost impossible for her to inflict heavy injuries. The worst he could think of was that she was shot, but not fatally.
But after hearing what happened, he didn’t have the heart to listen more.
He heard enough.
And before he knew it, he found himself in this chapel within the facility.
’Should I have gone with her, instead?’ he wondered to himself. ’Would things change if I stuck with her? Instead of going to a different place?’
To be honest, Dominic was not confident enough to conclude an answer. What happened to his wife was not because of her negligence, but because of Joker’s complacency. Maybe Heaven had her faults too. However, how could he blame his wife when she had been in the surgery room for hours now?
"I’m shameless, aren’t I?" he murmured, eyes still on the cross. "After taking people’s lives today and maybe, in the future, here I am, having the urge to beg you to save her."
The corner of his mouth curled up bitterly, his lips quivering. "Can you do that?" he continued under his breath. "Can you save her? I’m sure you don’t want someone like her in Heaven. So, you have no reason to take her there."
