Chapter 928: A golden opportunity
Meanwhile, Ivy kept herself hidden under the window when the rounds of gunfire started echoing in the air. When she saw the motorcycle rider speed through the driveway, she watched curiously. But when he took out a rifle and began firing in every direction, she ducked and hid for safety.
The rounds of gunfire lasted for about a minute or so. There was nothing she heard aside from that and she was too afraid to even peek, scared she might get shot. When the round of gunfire ended, she heard tires screeching and some yelling.
Ivy clasped her trembling hand, putting all her attention to the sound in case she had to make a run for it. It was her first time to be in this very dangerous situation, and from what she knew, it was only natural for this confrontation to be pushed inside the mansion. But when she heard the cars moving away, he looked up and gulped.
"They’re leaving?" she asked herself, gulping a mouthful as she nervously mustered the courage to peek.
Just a peek.
It wouldn’t hurt, right?
Her determination to know what was happening slowly overwhelmed her. Ivy slowly reached for the windowsill, pulling herself up carefully until she could see the driveway. Her eyes went a little wider, seeing that the motorcycle was driving away. Following him were multiple cars outside and some more people coming out of the driveway.
"Hah..." Ivy let a heavy breath, wobbling back to the floor as she patted her chest. She didn’t know if that sigh was out of relief or if it was something else. After all, she didn’t know the person behind the helmet.
"Is that person Dimitri’s enemy as well?" she wondered, shaking her head as to clear her thoughts. Ivy once again mustered the courage to look outside, catching more and more people running and cars coming from another direction of the mansion.
