Chapter 923: Familiar name

"If that’s what my lady wants, then shoot me. Follow your heart’s desire. Kill me, Ivy Wei."

Ivy’s eyes blazed as Dane taunted her, holding the pistol in the middle of his forehead. The side of his lips curled up fearlessly, eyes shining in amusement. She clenched her teeth, which made her jaw tighten, swallowing the lump in her throat.

"You disgust me," she hissed before snatching the pistol from his forehead. "Killing you is easy, but if that is what you want, then I won’t give that to you."

Ivy rolled her eyes as she disassembled the pistol, pausing as she caught the single bullet in the magazine. She could tell that the firearm was loaded just by its weight. After all, during the time she was so obsessed with Dane, she did a deep dive into firearms and even learned how to use them. Assembling, disassembling, cleaning its parts, and precision in marksmanship were all the skills she learned and could now do with her eyes closed.

For sure, Dane knew that as well. He knew this pistol was loaded, perhaps, he was the one to put the bullet inside and threw it at her knowing that fact.

"Oh, goodness." Alfred, who sat across from them, patted his chest. "Boss! Why would you taunt her like that!? What if she shoots you?!"

Dane only chuckled in response before snapping his eyes to the muscled blessed Alfred. "I’m fine with that." Keeping his smile, he shifted his attention to Ivy. "If I’m going to die, how romantic would it be to be killed by her?"

Alfred gasped in disbelief, darting his eyes between Dane and Ivy. He knew his boss was crazy, and that woman was a trophy he had taken home from his long mission. But from what he had seen so far, it seemed Dane’s interest in his trophy was more than just a plaything.

"Romantic?" Ivy repeated in mockery, looking back at Dane. "Why am I surprised to hear this? You know I won’t pull the trigger even if I know it’s loaded, Dimitri."

"I was hopeful." Dane shrugged. "It would’ve been nice if you did. After all, killing me is the only way out of here."

"You don’t actually believe that, do you?" A ridiculing chuckle escaped her. "I know anyone could be a murderer if cornered. To tell you the truth, I am also capable of killing you and just now, I was an inch close to pulling the trigger."

A fierce glint flickered across her eyes as a layer of frost gradually coated them. "However, no matter how much I want you dead right this instance, I will never pull the trigger. Not because I am not capable of killing you, but because I don’t want any trace of you in my life."
