Chapter 900: Grant us miracle

Hera cried for hours, and Leo patiently comforted her. When she calmed down a bit, he took her to his room. But alas, the moment their eyes met again, her tears started flowing once more.

It was almost silly how someone like her could cry so much. Fortunately, Leo was the type who was blessed with abundant patience. Thus, he comforted her until she fully calmed down. He didn’t realize how long she had been crying, but her eyes were so swollen she could barely open them.

When he could finally talk to her, Leo thought they should use their remaining time together. Hence, though futile, he suggested to do something. Since they couldn’t go out and go to places he wanted to show her, he resorted to the little hobbies he picked up during his stay.

Hera and Leo cooked their meals together, picked some flowers, arranged a vase, and did all those menial activities to keep themselves occupied. This wasn’t the first time they did it, but somehow, this time felt more meaningful.

Unlike the purpose of those activities to keep them occupied and pass the time, they did it today, hoping time would stop. Eventually, Hera started opening up to him and acted like usual. There were some moments she would look at him with deep sadness and longing, but they both pretended not to notice. By the time it was nighttime, he sent her off.

"She can be silly," Leo whispered to himself as he closed the main door behind him. He slowly gazed up and smiled, marching back to his room while keeping his strong front. However, when he was on his way to his room, his steps gradually slowed down.

Each step felt heavy, his shoulders were shaking, and before he knew it, droplets of tears already left their trace on the floor. He stopped, head down, tears escaping his eyes after their long confinement.

"I’m sorry," he expressed through his gritted teeth and sniffles. "That I can’t do anything to stop your tears. I’m sorry for leaving you and hurting you."

The mere thought that he could only count how many hours he had left terrified him. But not because he was scared of death itself, but rather, the idea of leaving her alone in this place terrified him.
