Chapter 873: A march to madness
GASP!
Primo gasped for air as he instinctively sat up from the floor. His entire body was drenched with sweat, damping his clothes. Looking around, all he could see were empty cans of beer, packaging of spoiled foods, and trash he couldn’t throw away at the proper disposal.
The television was still on, but it was on a mute. Even so, it supplied enough light for him to see everything in this dark small apartment.
Ever since Mr. John was prosecuted, Primo left everything behind. He didn’t return to the firm, even though his colleagues told him he was always welcome to return. He couldn’t come back to the apartment he bought for himself and his siblings, as it would only remind him of the incident.
With nowhere else to go or anything he wanted to do, Primo simply rented a small apartment in an unfamiliar town. He just chose a place that was far from everything, not knowing what he would do with his life after that. So far, he had succumbed to drinking until he passed out while mustering the courage to take his own life.
He probably got the justice his siblings deserved, but his life right now was far from living. He spent most of his life trying to protect those children. Now that they were gone, he realized he had never had a plan for his future without them. Thus, not having them in his life anymore tossed him into a wicked cycle of misery.
Primo dragged his feet to the small refrigerator to check if he still had beers. Unfortunately, he drank all of them early this morning. He picked up his hoodie to buy some. When Primo stepped out of the apartment, he glanced up.
It was evening again.
"I wonder what she’ll say if she finds out my schedule," he wondered lifelessly, thinking about Marra at the moment. "She won’t find out now, will she?"
