Chapter 782: It was your fault
"The guest’s house... Can you find a way to hide there without getting caught?"
Deborah’s chapped lips parted, but her voice was stuck in her throat. Her eyes blanked momentarily, assessing the calmness Hera exuded. But that wasn’t what surprised her; it was the fact that Hera sounded like she knew everything.
"Hera, you..." Deborah stuttered, raising an injured finger at Hera. "You... knew?"
"How I wish I didn’t, and that searing my brain had worked successfully," Hera said with a brief smile. "Sadly, I remember everything: every second, every detail, and every emotion."
Hera drew a deep breath, closing her eyes momentarily before exhaling.
"Seeing that you’re here and in that sorry state, I guess your retirement isn’t as delightful as we all thought," she pointed out. "But I can’t go with you, Deborah. Why would you even take me with you? Are you planning to kill me so you can hurt him?"
"I’m not dying in your hands." Hera closed the distance between them, standing a step in front of Deborah. "I don’t mind if you used me back then. To tell you the truth, I don’t mind closing the Chapter of your life where I am a victim in it, a person you should feel sorry for. It’s not that I hate you; I just think that’s better for everyone."
"If you came to kill me to get even with Frank, I will fight back," she added sternly, balling her hands into fists. "But if you’re here because you feel guilty for leaving me with a monster, what reassurance do you give me that you can take me away from here?"
Deborah gulped, unknowingly holding her breath. Her reaction was enough for Hera to grasp Deborah’s foolishness.
