Chapter 523: Chill
[LYON Group’s conference meeting]
Soft applause erupted in the conference room as Dominic introduced the new members of the board. Everyone smiled at the three men standing around the table, smiling back at them for the warm welcome.
"Many things happened in the past several months. I must admit some things left a bitter taste in my mouth, regretting that years of friendship fell apart just like that. However, I believed it was all part of the betterment of the LYON Group." Dominic, standing at the end of the long oval table, glossed his eyes on everyone’s faces. "We lost a few important colleagues who also became our friends and family, but I’m certain that isn’t enough to stop the LYON Group from growing."
He took a deliberate pause, smiling subtly. "I once again want to congratulate our new members of the board. May we all get along well and work together for the same goal."
Another round of applause erupted in the conference room as Dominic finished his short speech. He then moved his gaze to the side, nodding at Silas and then at Moose before gazing at the last addition to the board. There were only three new members on the board, so it wasn’t hard to memorize their names and faces.
Despite the welcoming smiles, however, lies odd gazes beneath their eyes. Half of the board of directors didn’t know Silas, and thus, they were still surprised at how this man resembled Dominic. The other half were already a part of the board, even during Lionel’s time. Therefore, they had a vague idea of the black sheep of the Zhu family. Even so, none of them brought up anything that could ruin this moment.
Everyone believed this should be a good occasion, a step for a better LYON Group. They could discuss it next time.
"Please, take your seats..." after a moment, Dane spoke through the microphone from the corner of the presentation platform.
Since this meeting was about the new members of the board, Dane led the presentation so the new members knew the company’s status. He briefly discussed important matters of the company, current projects, and future plans. He also took this opportunity to open up things that needed everyone’s undivided attention.
The meeting lasted for hours with some open debates and such in between discussions. When everything was addressed, Dane then invited everyone to tour the building. It had been a while since the higher-ups inspected each department and thus, since they just welcomed the new members of the board, squeezing an inspection felt like the right call.
