According to Paula, the reason she didn’t have an IV that night was that she run out of the room because of the commotion. However, upon inspection, the investigators found it very suspicious. If Paula ran out that night, it was only natural that the IV pole fell due to her rash actions. The IV pole was kept in place.

"Did you do another laboratory test?" Heaven peeled her eyes from the table on her lap to the detective.
"Yes." The detective nodded. "Miss Shen was intoxicated with some drugs. We’re still analyzing the drugs in her system, so I can’t give you further details. However, what I can say with certainty is that she was under the influence when she attacked you. Adding to that, this drug might’ve triggered her bipolar disorder."
Heaven drew a deep breath as she took in the information carefully. This was the first time she would be working with the police, as she was used to taking matters into her hands. Even though she placed people in different government agencies, this was the first she would do things legally.
"It’s okay, love." Heaven snapped her eyes up at the owner of the hand that held hers. "Just say if you aren’t ready. They won’t be able to force you."
