Chapter 239: [Bonus - ]Amor Fati
According to Dominic, the death threat happened almost a week ago. An investigation was done, but the person who delivered the package suddenly disappeared from all the CCTV footage. Thus, Dominic raised the security in the LYON Group headquarters.
Those four new bodyguards weren’t the only ones who were hired. There were more. The only reason they stepped foot into the penthouse was because of the guards’ qualifications.
"I didn’t tell you immediately because I didn’t want to worry you. Moreover, I wanted to make sure it wasn’t just an irresponsible joke." Dominic sighed after giving her the details that had been bugging him for almost a week now. "I’m sorry if this burdens you. I was thinking of not telling you, but I thought you deserved to know the truth."
Worry dominated his face, staring at the slightly blank countenance of his wife. He took it as a mix of surprise and fear, weighing his heart down as he couldn’t help but wonder if he made the right decision. Dominic didn’t want to tell her, but he wanted her to know, so she would be extra cautious.
Looking at her now, his resolve waned.
"Thank you." Heaven smiled subtly right before he could apologize, making his brows raise. She reached for his hand, squeezing it mildly while looking straight into his eyes. "Thank you for telling me, Dom. I will be careful. Do the new bodyguards know about it?"
"Yes." Dominic heaved a sigh of relief, nodding. "Those four were there when the package was being delivered. To tell you the truth, the package didn’t even reach my office because they intervened."
"Good thing they were there." Heaven also heaved a sigh of relief. "I don’t want to think if it was a bomb — oh god. Things will be bad."
"I know. That’s why I owe them."
Her soft eyes gleamed with worry, compelling him to cup her face. Dominic caressed the corner of her eyes with his thumb, sporting a reassuring look.
"I’ll be fine. Don’t worry." Dominic flashed her a momentary smile. "All I want is for you and Basti to be careful until we catch whoever sent that bird carcass. And I’m sorry if you have to carry the same burden. After that incident with Andrea Ng, I feel like I keep putting you in a difficult position."
