"Then, when I’m scared, big brother, you’ll come to me, right? When I’m scared, as long as you’re with me, it’s not scary! Well, I mean... it’s still scary, but I won’t be trembling if you’re there. Hehe."
Right after he let out a happy little smile, Sylas suddenly twisted his body and pulled Rocco into a tight hug.
They ended up sitting on the ground together, and Rocco’s head spun from the sudden movement.
"W-whoa!" Rocco gasped in surprise, but then, he froze, realizing something.
Sylas’s arms, which were holding him, were trembling.
Rocco quickly looked up and saw something he never expected—Sylas was crying, his tears falling down his face in an almost unthinkable sight.
"Why... why do you always..." Sylas choked out, his voice thick with emotion.
"B-big brother...? What’s wrong? Did I do something...?" Rocco asked, bewildered.
The tears dripped down onto Rocco’s cheek, and the warm sensation made him realize that Sylas was crying.
Somehow, the realization hit him late, and panic and urgency surged within him.
No, no. He couldn’t stand seeing Sylas cry. It made him so sad. His eyes welled up with tears as he frantically tried to make Sylas smile again.
