He had completely learned his lesson.
He would never sneak around behind Sylas’s back again.
Ever.
Rocco wiped his tears while Sylas gave his back a few more gentle pats.
Then, without warning, Sylas scooped him up with ease.
"We’re leaving. Staying in a place like this for too long isn’t good for your heart. You’re already frail as it is."
For some unknown reason, Sylas had decided that Rocco was the type of weak character who might drop dead from a heart attack if he spent too long in an unsanitary environment.
Where had he ever gotten that impression?
