Chapter 146: The Crystal Refiner (2)
Bella looked shocked at the lecherous middle-aged man before her. Thankfully, she regained her bearing quickly.
"You honor us, esteemed Refiner. Please follow me to meet the shop manager. She is the one who can properly assist and welcome you."
Her respectful attitude and the reverent gazes from the other assistants confirmed Hex’s guess.
’It’s like the clerk said. Although every Blessed can refine crystals, only a few can do it well. They don’t even know how good I am but their treatment is already as if I am an honored patron of theirs.’
He followed Bella toward the main chamber at the end of the hall. The exquisitely decorated door exuded an ancient aura. Hex couldn’t help but pause and admire the door before him. The decorative carvings depicted a bird-like creature clashing against a snake-like being.
Bella knocked on the door, which opened after a short pause. A woman with ash brown hair appeared. She had light brown eyes, fair skin, and full cherry-shaped lips. Her body-hugging gown accentuated her shapely figure. Especially, the deep neckline left a lot of fair skin, and part of her breast open to sight.
"Ma’am, this esteemed sir wishes to join the Union and refine crystals for us," Bella said politely, explaining the reason behind their visit, to her superior.
"Very well. Please enter mister...?" The manager moved, allowing entry to Hex, while asking his name.
"Mike Northson." Hex gave a name that he came with. The name was false but he subconsciously linked himself to the baron and the place he called his home.
Hex took a seat in her two-seater comfortable chair with cushions. The lady didn’t shy and sat right beside him. When she crossed her legs, Hex realized her gown had a split running up to her thighs.
"Before we proceed, let me make it clear. I am not joining the Union. I am just interested in temporarily lending my skills to earn a few Sterren."
