Ou Jue looked at the little girl in his arms, his usually cold and detached eyes now tinged with a faint smile. "What are you expecting?"
Xiyan, however, opened her mouth and bit down on Ou Jue’s finger with a chomp.
The scene instantly fell into an awkward silence...
His gaze darkened slightly, his Adam’s apple bobbing as he spoke in a low voice, "Idiot, what are you doing?"
Xiyan panicked and pushed him away, taking two steps back.
How was she supposed to know what she was doing? She must’ve been out of her mind just now!
Hiding as far away as she could, Xiyan spoke, feeling guilty yet justified, "You—you’ve been bullying me all along. What’s wrong if I bite you once?"
Instead of getting angry, Ou Jue chuckled, though his eyes showed something indecipherable, as he began striding toward her with his long legs.
Xiyan instinctively wanted to flee. "Ahhh, don’t come any closer!"
"Xia Xiyan, I dare you to try running again!"
Xiyan found herself circling the coffee table with Ou Jue, playing a game of hide-and-seek while crying out miserably, "It’s just a bite! It didn’t even hurt!"
"Hah." Ou Jue let out a cold laugh, abruptly stopping in his tracks to glare at her from above. "Come here. Don’t make me catch you myself, or the consequences will be worse."
