Chapter 422: A Bold Little Happiny
"Of course. Naturally."
That was completely reasonable.
After all, this was a company whose primary business revolved around egg products. It was only natural that they wouldn't want another large-scale competitor appearing in the same market.
Besides, what they had asked was simply that he not expand production on a large scale. They hadn't said he couldn't sell any products at all.
That was perfectly fair.
In truth, Lin Feng had never planned on selling products made from Chansey or Blissey eggs anyway.
He already had enough Pokémon to feed, and sometimes it felt like even that wasn't enough.
How could he possibly think about selling them?
"Then Auntie can rest easy."
Su Luoluo's mother seemed relieved, a comforting smile appearing on her face.
"Go ahead and choose your Happiny."
"Come, come. Let me explain."
She pointed toward the rows of cribs.
"Start looking from this side and work your way over there. The Happiny in the farthest section were born first."
"Though even the oldest ones only hatched a few days ago."
"The older Happiny have already found stones they like, while some of the younger ones are still searching."
Seeing that her mother had finished explaining, Su Luoluo immediately took over.
Some Happiny were carrying stones.
Others were not.
For Happiny, this was an important milestone.
Normally, after hatching, a Happiny would briefly keep the egg given to it by its mother.
Soon afterward, it would begin searching for a stone it liked and gradually polish it into a smooth, rounded shape.
Although researchers still hadn't fully explained why Happiny were so attached to stones, one popular theory suggested that carrying a rounded stone helped them prepare for laying eggs after evolution.
Of course, there was still no definitive scientific proof.
As for Lin Feng, he wasn't interested in complicated theories.
He didn't even activate his Eye of Insight.
Instead, he walked to each crib one by one.
He looked into the innocent, slightly confused eyes of the newborn Pokémon.
Then he waved his hand.
Generally speaking, newborn Pokémon had not yet fully developed their awareness.
Many of their actions were still driven by instinct.
These newborn Happiny were no exception.
Most of them simply stared blankly when Lin Feng waved at them, not understanding what was happening.
Lin Feng didn't mind.
He moved on to the next crib and repeated the process.
What he wanted was simple.
He wanted to find a Happiny that naturally liked his scent.
And he wanted to do it without relying on Viridian Power.
The search didn't last long.
When he reached the third crib, he gently waved his hand again.
This time, one of the little Happiny immediately reacted.
It hurried toward him on its short pink legs.
The tiny Pokémon had long side tufts tied like braids, secured by darker pink puff-like ties.
Three small bumps sat on its forehead like tiny buns.
Its black eyes were crystal clear and sparkling, free of any impurities.
Held carefully in a pouch-like apron on its belly was a small white egg.
A faint blush colored its cheeks.
Although the name Happiny sounded tiny and delicate, it was actually fairly large for a baby Pokémon.
It stood about 0.6 meters tall.
Even without carrying a stone, it was heavier than Alolan Ninetales.
Seeing it approach, Lin Feng waved again.
This time, before another Happiny could even react, the little one rushed forward.
Holding its egg with one hand, it placed its other tiny hand directly onto Lin Feng's outstretched palm.
"Alright."
"It's you."
Lin Feng smiled and gently picked the little Happiny up.
Although it had been lifted into the air, the newborn Pokémon showed no trace of fear.
Instead, it smiled.
"Happi~"
"Lin Feng is really popular among Pokémon."
Watching him simply wave once and immediately walk away with a Happiny, Su Luoluo's mother couldn't help laughing.
"Maybe this little Happiny is just especially outgoing."
Lin Feng chuckled.
Holding the tiny Pokémon in his arms, he lightly teased the braided tuft on its head.
The little Happiny immediately looked up at its own braid with curiosity.
The braid swayed from side to side.
A soft giggle escaped its mouth.
"Happi..."
"So, how much do I owe you?"
"Forget it."
Su Luoluo's mother waved her hand dismissively.
"Your Moomoo Milk helped Luoluo's Larvitar tremendously."
"And this Happiny clearly likes you."
"Just take her home."
"Then... thank you."
Lin Feng wasn't the type to argue endlessly over small favors.
"In that case, I'll happily take Happiny with me."
"Good."
"It's not mealtime yet, so I won't keep you for lunch."
"Alright."
Lin Feng nodded.
Beside him, Su Luoluo suddenly raised a fist.
"Hmph! Just wait, Brother Lin!"
"My first stop on my journey will be challenging your Sky Challenge!"
Lin Feng laughed.
"That depends on how many stages you can clear."
"I'll definitely reach the enhanced version of Stage Two... no, Stage Three!"
"I'll be there soon!"
...
By the time they left, the sky had cleared completely.
After saying goodbye to Su Luoluo and her mother, Lin Feng released Pidgeot once again.
Taking out a Poké Ball, he looked down at the Happiny in his arms.
"We're about to fly."
"Happiny, do you want to stay inside your Poké Ball for a while?"
Even though this Happiny had only been born a few days ago, Lin Feng was surprised to discover that she could already understand most of what he said.
After checking her information, he formed a rough guess.
Pokémon: Happiny
Gender: Female
Type: Normal
Ability: Serene Grace
Potential: Red
IVs:
HP: 31

Special Attack: 12
Defense: 16
Special Defense: 27
Speed: 17
Strength: Level 1-3
Moves:
Pound
Copycat
Defense Curl
Gravity
Metronome
Friendship: 40
Happiness: 35
Besides the standard newborn moves of Pound, Copycat, and Defense Curl, this Happiny had inherited the Psychic-type move Gravity.
Gravity: Creates intense gravity across the battlefield, grounding floating and Flying-type Pokémon while making airborne maneuvers impossible.
Being able to inherit a Psychic-type move meant her mother likely possessed Psychic energy herself.
It wasn't unreasonable that such a Happiny would be a little smarter than average.
"Happi?"
The little Happiny glanced at Meowscarada.
Then she looked at the massive bird that had suddenly appeared.
Not only was she not afraid, she immediately tucked her stone back into her pouch and stretched both arms toward Pidgeot.
"Happi! Happi!"
"Big bird! Big bird!"
Lin Feng blinked.
"You want to ride Pidgeot too?"
"Happi~!"
The little Pokémon nodded vigorously.
This time, her meaning couldn't have been clearer.
"Well..."
Lin Feng didn't know whether to laugh or sigh.
Inside, however, he was genuinely surprised.
He had expected many things from a newborn Happiny.
Being this fearless was not one of them.
What a remarkably bold little Happiny.
