Hogwarts: This Dark Lord is Good?

Chapter 419: Unity!!

"I still think you're worrying too much. With all that strange equipment of yours and your absurd strength, I honestly can't imagine what could threaten you. Even if Professor Dumbledore turned against you, you'd still be able to leave safely."

Tom clearly didn't take Wade's concerns seriously.

"There is always someone stronger, Tom..." Wade murmured, thinking of that strange ancient tomb.

This world differed in many ways from the one he had once believed he understood. No amount of caution was excessive.

Salazar Slytherin shared the same view.

Slytherin's missing remains, that strange and powerful tomb... There were far too many unknowns. Who knew when they might encounter something like that again?

If that day came, Wade had no idea whether he would be able to withstand it.

He wasn't afraid of an enemy who attacked him openly. What he feared was dying without ever understanding how, just as Slytherin had.

Even now, Slytherin had no idea how he had died. All he remembered was conducting an experiment, accidentally dozing off, and then waking a thousand years later.

Tom had no interest in continuing such a needlessly pessimistic discussion, so he changed the subject.

"Then what are you planning to have Andre do after he graduates?"

"I told you before that we still know very little about the wizarding world."

"Mm-hm?"

"So I'll have him travel around the world. Every month, he'll record everything he sees and hears in detail and send it to me. He'll carry out preliminary social investigations on our behalf."

"That's all?" Tom asked.

"It's extremely important, Tom. The wizarding world is different in every country, and we need to understand all of them clearly. We have to look at the entire world, not confine ourselves to this tiny corner of wizarding Britain," Wade said seriously.

Tom couldn't help nodding. His thinking had indeed been too limited before, focused only on Britain.

"Anything else? If not, I'm taking the spell down." Wade tapped a finger against his wand, and the soundproofing charm around them vanished at once.

Tom lifted his right hand slightly, but still failed to stop him. He let out a deep sigh. The bastard really did cast spells far too quickly.

Seeing that Wade and Tom had finished discussing their "serious business", Grace came over again.

This time, Tom had no excuse to send her away. After all, Wade had expressly forbidden him from saying anything that might undermine unity.

The look on Tom's face, as though he had swallowed a fly, delighted Wade.

Once he got back, he would have to find a way to preserve this memory.

And if he ever encountered the noseless Voldemort in the future, he would play it for him directly.

While Wade was still enjoying himself, several more members arrived at the large compartment.

The diminutive Flitwick came rather late, and behind him was a large boy Wade knew well.

Flitwick and Hagrid had something in common. Evidently, that shared experience had already drawn them together.

When Flitwick invited Hagrid into the compartment, Hagrid looked uneasy.

The number of people inside made him uncomfortable. In the past, being around other wizards had rarely been pleasant.

Like Flitwick, Hagrid had always endured strange looks from others. It had made it difficult for him to become someone who interacted easily with people.

Flitwick, by contrast, was completely at ease. After ushering Hagrid inside, he ran excitedly into the compartment and began greeting the friends he had not seen for dozens of days.

Just as Hagrid was about to retreat, he heard a familiar voice.

"Hagrid!"

Hagrid looked up and saw Wade smiling at him from his seat by the window.

"Ah! Wade!" Hagrid immediately brightened at the sight of someone he knew.

He had kept his head lowered until now, so he had not noticed Wade sitting by the window.

Wade stood, quickly walked to the door, and pulled the visibly uncomfortable Hagrid inside.

"Everyone, please quiet down."

The compartment immediately fell silent, and every pair of eyes turned towards Hagrid.

He nervously clenched the hem of his clothes.

"This is my friend, Rubeus Hagrid. He's also a new Hogwarts student this year, and unless something unexpected happens, he'll be one of the newest members of our Mutual Aid Society."

Wade's gentle voice carried through the compartment.

A burst of enthusiastic applause followed.

"Welcome, Hagrid!"

"Welcome! You should definitely join the Mutual Aid Society. You won't regret it."

Hagrid raised his head in surprise as he listened to their welcoming words, only to find everyone looking at him warmly.

"Er..."

He was astonished to realise that there was none of the strangeness or discrimination he had grown accustomed to seeing in their eyes. There was only a sincerity that filled him with warmth.

An unfamiliar feeling rose within him.

"What... is SMASH?" Hagrid asked foolishly under everyone's gaze.

The moment the question left his mouth, he regretted it. Perhaps he should not have asked that now. Perhaps he should have thanked them for welcoming him first.

But no one laughed at his awkwardness.

Wade smiled. "That's the Mutual Aid Society, a student organisation I founded. Within it, everyone is equal, and we help one another."

Hagrid listened quietly to Wade's explanation, his beetle-black eyes gradually lighting up.

Suddenly, he felt a warm hand take hold of his.

Looking down, he saw the tiny Flitwick standing on tiptoe, stretching his arm upwards to clasp Hagrid's hand.

"Hagrid, I understand how you feel right now. I really do. I felt the same way a year ago. Join the Mutual Aid Society. You absolutely won't regret it."

Flitwick wore a bright smile.

Looking at that radiant expression, Hagrid felt as though something had appeared inside his heart.

At the very least, here in this compartment, he was simply an ordinary wizard, not some strange outsider.

"It's very nice to meet all of you! I'm Rubeus Hagrid!" Hagrid introduced himself again, his voice filled with excitement.

"Filius Flitwick."

Even though Flitwick had already introduced himself to Hagrid before, he gave his name again now, as though taking part in some kind of ceremony.

Wade also extended his hand and shook Hagrid's.

"Wade Reynolds."

"Tom Riddle."

"Anne Rosier."

"Grace McLaggen."
