Chapter 101: Jellyfish
The howls felt like small blades digging into flesh as they erupted out of the hounds’ mouths.
Everyone was stunned by the sudden turn of events.
"What the..." Kagerou began, but he didn’t finish, because the hounds turned their heads towards his direction, the direction that Vacuse was standing together with the captain.
Without hesitation, the Alpha let out a short bark and then exploded forward in a rush of raging anger.
But they didn’t quite reach them as the air was suddenly filled with the thumping of energy blasts.
The Demon Guards already formed a wall in front of Vacuse and the captain, and with their hands raised, their eyes flashed with power that shot forward like arrows.
Cracking sounds filled the air as lightning, pure energy bolts, and fire tore forward and slammed into the hounds.
The Alpha turned mid-flight and bounced away, but not all of its pack members were that fortunate. Lightning tore into the fire wave and turned its body to shreds.
The next was met with a wall of flame that instantly turned it to ashes. And when the pure energy bolt hit two of the hounds, they howled painfully as their bodies melted within three breaths.
The Alpha hound could only stare in astonishment, as without waiting, the Dragon Guards unleashed another barrage of attacks that killed another set of the pack.
The rest instantly moved back, growling.
Most of the hounds that died were in the second stages, and normally, they should have been able to easily kill Soulbearers in the same second stage since monsters are more powerful on average.
