Chapter 51: Ten Billion Dollars?!
Mrs Jackson’s throat ran dry, gazing at Kieran who swiftly moved himself off his seat towards her. She knew he would have been wondering inside himself why she kept silent despite being accused of murder... But a second later, it came to her she didn’t need to really worry about this.
Just because.
She cleared her throat. "We aren’t having another banter yet, Mr Holland. So, let’s do well not to stick fingers at each other for no certain reason."
Kieran nodded back with a gentle smile, and she returned it, though not in one other than mixed with frustration, and she turned to leave. Before she exited through the automatic door, Kieran had said,
"Don’t you also feel like something doesn’t connect about the guy’s death? I’m not talking about why he died or who might have probably killed him... But something is definitely missing."
Mrs Jackson had held on at the doorstep, almost about to start reasoning with this man of all people. Even till she walked through the corridor, the thoughts lingered in her mind — what else might be unbelievable apart from Cade being dead and sent to the morgue?
But then, there was only a way to look into things. Mrs Jackson pulled out her phone mid-step and dialled her bodyguard. When the call was picked, Mrs Jackson had said right away,
"Get the car ready. We’re heading the South City Police Morgue."
... The air around the Holland Firing Range isn’t one of warmth as a sauna nor one of silence as a worship ground. No — the air itself grew hot with every bullet that Chairman Holland shot from his black riffle, which also sent a sharp sound down the wide courtyard.
Cade Jones stood by his side, his head turned down, hands clasped behind him with a little bit of calm in him. Not something you would expect from someone that’s *really* abducted.
Well, that was expected. He followed the two guys by himself to this place, and at the same time, it wasn’t like he didn’t know who this man was. Their groups used to be somewhat real partners — that was years until Mrs Jackson left the Holland Corporations.
