A Nobody to a Trillionaire: The $100 Trillion Vault Changed Everything

Chapter 49: Rescued from the Morgue

Detective Haxton’s agreement with Cade was clear - that he should provide evidence that proves Mrs Jackson responsible for all the crimes he told him she committed... And finally turn himself in again.

Yes, Cade told him everything. That Kieran Holland was never responsible for killing Mr Stamps. That Mrs Jackson was the true devil.

This was when the detective visited him in the cell recently, asking if he had anything else to tell him outside the discussion they had last time. Because... If it were really that trillionaire’s order to kill Mr Stamps, why would he let him tell the police that he did so? Blowing his own cover?

Cade didn’t respond until he made mention of his hospitalised grandmother. On one part, it was impressive how intelligent the police were to even find out about that.

It took the detective just,

"Probably, they’re making you do all this just to keep your grandma safe. But... were they able to keep your little sister safe back then?" for Cade to open up and let him in on his plan.

Haxton reported that he did a rough background check on him and his sister’s death happened to be in one of the case files at the station, which was initially considered a suicide until a witness gave his statement.

It was in a dense forest a few miles from Wolvermoth District, on a silent night when the body of a high school student was found hanging by the branch of a tree.

The rope had strangled her dead before the police could reach there, and they were no magicians to know what happened before her death.

Just what they saw at the scene was enough for them - her clothes showed no signs of blood neither did her body hold any marks of torture... So, it was half reasonable to take it as suicide.

But Detective Haxton had his concerns back then, as his team was assigned to handle the case. He had his concerns because there was a red bruise around the girl’s wrist.
