The two days leading up to Seth’s departure for Oskon were grueling, exasperating, and quite painful. He, Nightmare, and Colossus took on the Knight Skeleton again and again… and they lost again and again. The Undead summon was a horror to fight. Its absurd Toughness, combined with its defensive spell that cloaked it in a spectral, damage-reducing armor, made it seemingly impossible to slay before it destroyed either Colossus’s or Seth’s protective barrier. To make matters worse, even when Nightmare tried crippling it with Chains of Darkness, the Knight Skeleton used a spell that let it simply shrug off the debuffs.

In the end, after burning through all of Seth’s weekly free hours in the Epic Training Chamber, they managed to find only one viable path to victory—and it was far from fair. Seth had to unleash four consecutive Phantom Punches, tapping into the vast reserves of aether of his Fine Storing Ring.

It was a brute-force tactic that left him utterly drained, but it was the only thing that worked.

As their last fight ended and the Knight Skeleton dissolved into motes of light, Seth pushed himself up from a crouch, panting heavily, the muscles of his right arm screaming in protest. He turned to Colossus, whose Quartz Armor was almost completely shattered, the last few chunks clinging precariously to his shell, and cast Intermediate Identify.
