Chapter 108: Dual Energy attack
The forest stretched as far as the eye could see, showing no signs of ending no matter how fast William ran. His boots barely grazed the ground’s surface; it was as if he were gliding on an ice rink, propelled by the new wings sprouting from his back. His new Angel form wasn’t just decorative; it could slightly elevate William, and by using continuous wind and ice spells, he had managed to generate a kind of turbine that made him incredibly fast. At this moment, they were no longer following the path to Draymore, but instead heading directly north, searching for Little Star, the girl who had left clues in her diary. Despite searching through the old William’s memories, he didn’t truly know what was in this area; the maps only showed a forest and a mountain before reaching the sea. Regardless, he had to keep moving to find a way out of this place.
After several more hours, a shadow lunged at them once again, but this time they were prepared. The spells Angel maintained to propel them also served as a radar that, upon sensing a presence nearby, sent an alert. Without needing to waste time warning William, Angel abruptly shifted their trajectory to the side to brusquely dodge the attack.
Seeing its attack fail, the beast emerged from the vegetation, staring at William. The wolf was over 3 meters tall, its fur light gray with fangs that gleamed as if made of steel. Elemental magic swirled around its body like a whirlwind, so without losing time, it lunged at its prey again.
William landed with a somersault and drew his sword, while the wolf was already upon him once more.
"Now, Angel!" he cried.
The sky chilled in an instant. A magic circle erupted behind William. Ice stalactites descended like blades from above, forcing the wolf to move faster. William, using his wings, propelled himself to the side and slashed his sword across the wolf’s neck in an arc that glowed red. The wolf dodged the main cut, but the sword struck one of its fangs; the metal screeched, and half of the wolf’s mouth had disappeared. Gray gas gushed from its snout. Seeing the advantage was on his side, William leaped with all his might to finish the job. One, two, three times, Angel launched precise cuts, but the wolf continued to evade all of William’s attacks.
Angel constantly conjured around them, launching ice fragments that slowed the wolf, freezing its fur to try and immobilize it. The strategy succeeded after a few minutes when the wolf lost all its mobility, allowing William to deliver the final blow with a brutal spin. His blade cut the giant wolf in two from the chest. The wolf’s body fell in two directions as a gray cloud began to emerge from its chest. Excited, William extended his hand, and the entire gray cloud was immediately absorbed into his ring. The sensation was addictive, causing him to let out an ecstatic shout to the sky.
With his energy replenished, William felt a bit hungry, so he sat down and pulled out some dried meat rations to eat and take a break.
