The Nightmare Wizard

Chapter 15 – Tension at the Breaking Point

The tension was unbearable. A single movement would be enough to make everything explode. The nobles, wounded, humiliated, and furious, glared with murderous eyes, some grabbing chairs, knives, or anything they could turn into a weapon. William remained standing, defiant, not moving an inch. Behind him, his companions silently braced themselves, ready to fight at his side without hesitation.

Then, Captain Irven's voice cut through the air like a sharp blade.

—What in the hell is going on here?!

Everyone froze. The imposing captain appeared in the doorway, his figure as solid as a wall. At his side, walking with a firm stride and a tense expression, came Elric.

—The previous incident hasn't even been resolved, and you're already starting another fight? —Irven thundered, crossing his arms with a look of pure disappointment—. Are you children? Or just plain idiots?

Silence fell over the cafeteria like a slab of stone. The nobles took a few steps back, slowly lowering their improvised weapons. William didn't even blink.

Elric stepped forward, scanning the scene.

—Captain, it seems the commoners provoked them again.

One of the nobles, with a broken nose and a bloodstained bandage around his neck, raised his voice:

—They started it! They walked in, glaring at us! They're clearly looking for war!

—That's a lie! —Dixon shouted, his voice shaking with rage—. You were the ones who insulted us first! You always get away with everything and then play the victim!
