Volume 1, Chapter 13 – I Want to Experience All the Joy
Of course, the first bullet didn't hit where I was aiming. I had a mark on a crack with green moss, but I hit higher and to the right. Still, I was absolutely thrilled to have fired the rifle!
With those thoughts, I went back and started shooting again until I couldn't feel my shoulder anymore and the magazine was empty.
I absolutely love this. Rifles, pistols. All this military stuff. Maybe my subconscious chose this when I was with God? Something I might have liked my whole life, but never dared to try. And now I have it, and I feel that what I'm doing right now genuinely brings me joy.
The feeling of expensive metal in my hands, the sensation of hitting something, the smell of gunpowder and burnt wood. Even the fact that my back and shoulder are in unbearable pain doesn't outweigh the emotions I got from this.
I need to update my list and eat something.
I crawled out of the forest back to the fort, into the bright, hot sun. I picked up the tablet from the ground where I'd left it and sat down next to the Eurocube, massaging my shoulder.
"Oops... I left the rifle in the forest. Maybe I should try using my Soldiers?" I started talking to myself, since I was completely alone here, and the Soldiers — with their monotony — weren't suitable for conversation.
"Summon Soldier!" I said into the air, massaging my shoulder.
A Soldier appeared before me.
"Can you go get the rifle from the forest and reload it?" I said calmly, probably because the adrenaline was still burning inside me.
The Soldier walked with heavy steps toward the forest.
Oh! I wonder what else we have in terms of equipment? Maybe helicopters?
The Soldier returned with the rifle. I, of course, decided to ask about helicopters.
"Do we have helicopters?"
"Yes, sir. Army aviation, air wing," he answered monotonously, placing the rifle next to me.
(Did he really give me this rifle, and now it's mine? That's interesting... But his answer wasn't entirely clear. It seems like we have some, but what exactly?)
"How many?"
"Total of twenty-four army and thirteen air wing. Total — thirty-seven."
Wow... That's quite an extensive helicopter... fleet? Now I can add a new item to the list.
I updated the list:
— Get into sports.
— Learn to shoot a weapon — shot (completed). Replaced with — fly in a helicopter.
— Buy or build my own house.
— Start some kind of business.
— Find a partner.
— Plant a tree.
— Learn a new craft.
— Go skydiving.
From this world:
— Try to learn magic.
Well, now to eat, and then — the helicopter. I feel like God gave me the opportunity to do everything I didn't have time for or couldn't do in my past life, and I really want to experience all the joy now... knowing that at any moment you can get throat cancer and end up dying simply because it's inoperable...
And I was hit by memories of those days when I could barely speak at twenty-nine, constantly going to chemotherapy that only made things worse.
