Chapter 133: A Goddess’s Dance of Hearts
My brain felt like it was about to leave my body, while next to me, someone appeared to be also losing their mind.
“And what if I want to marry her? Will you allow it, grandpa?” Loki took a shot at Asher.
Huh?! You moron, this isn’t the time for that!
However, my heart completely stopped when I noticed he was earnest on this.
“Foolish wants by a foolish child.” Asher sighed.
“Oi, you can’t get married! You’re only eighteen!” She yelped, walking towards him, as this time Alijah could do nothing to hold her back.
“What? So, I have to wait three more years? Like you did? Who is to say I live until then?” Loki argued, gripping me tighter.
This vampire had no idea what bomb he was holding onto.
“Oi…” I barely said audibly.
“It’s not that. What I need you to understand is that it’s too soon! Alijah and I knew each other for longer than that!” Rem countered.
“Well, I’m not waiting until my funeral to do what I want, especially when I…” He trailed off, finally noticing my demeanor, yet it was too late.
My fuse was lit, and I was about to explode on this idiotic lover of mine.
“Enough, you stupid vampire! Does your hubris know no limits?!” I yelled, stomping on his foot, triggering him to let go of me instinctively.
A soft groan left him as he bent down to his foot.
“No one said I was dating you, nor do I plan to! Marrying you is the last thing on my list! Got it!” I growled at Loki before storming off to the side.
Enough of this damn family… Marrying into it would be a nightmare.
It would have been the same way to say things. But I… was stuck with this family for life.
“And you…” idiots… “people think you have everything figured out. I don’t have anything to share that you don’t know. These family matters don’t concern me. Excuse me,” I huffed, reaching for the door.
The next moment, I felt someone grab onto my arm, and instinctively, I turned to them, thinking it was Loki, only to see it was one of his uncles.
“Wait,” Aiden declared, as I drowned the desire to yank it away from him.
However, it was better for him than it was for his sister.
“I saw you with that same dagger before you fell into the portal. Did it cut you?” He asked, prompting me to pause for a moment as I stared at his hand, which he quickly withdrew.
Loki was glaring my way, but not at me, as he had locked onto his uncle. Grasping at where he had grabbed me, I narrowed my eyes at the wolf.
“It’s not polite to touch someone you don’t know.” I huffed, as he didn’t avert his eyes from me.
“Ah, sorry, didn’t want you getting away before you answered that. It seems the people who were cut by it are better off seeing a medic about it.” He quickly fixed himself as I took a step away from him.
“Well, it’s a good thing that thing shattered when it fell on the floor, and it didn’t cut me. You can ask the little wolf who followed us into the portal.” I lied, putting Thea in the spotlight.
“Yep! It never touched her!” She followed my lead, prompting him to cock his head lightly.
“I see.” He breathed.
There was no doubt that this Lycan had smelled my blood from then, yet had no definite proof to sustain it.
“Uncle Aiden, let her go. She’s lost a friend and was kidnapped along with our two girls. Don’t you think that’s enough?” Oswald said from the side.
Loki was biting his tongue, as he would say too much if he spoke, yet the old wolf didn’t back down from me.
“Hah, sorry, but I can’t do that, especially since you’re lying. The blood by the altar smells like you and the dead warlock.” Aiden declared, eyes shimmering.
Luckily, I was not alone here.
“Well, that was from when she used herself as a decoy to protect Luna, Gerta, and me! She cut her hand to have that Oliver dick head follow her.” Thea quickly intercepted. “You must’ve smelled it in the halls if you really went through it all, Ma, but I felt bad, so I turned around to help her and got caught because of it.”
“Hah… That’s true. Her blood was present in one of the halls with a collapsed ceiling.” Rem was reluctant to admit, turning her gaze onto me. “And why on earth would you do that?”
Urgh… I’m tired of people asking me this. Wait…. Is this why… Clever…
“The warlock had made it clear I wouldn’t be killed because I was going to serve a different purpose, while your two daughters were going to be impaled alive for you to see. So, the choice was simple.” I answered.
“How dumb can you young ones be?!” Gerta, who had been with us, stepped away from Asher.
“If anything, I could’ve done that! You, idiot! You have your entire life to live!” She added, walking towards me.
I shook my head, “If I am young and dumb. What does that make you, Gerta?”
This is all tiresome.
“You’re old and slow. I had to give you a head start before I even threw that… You know what, all you need to know is that Lycan would have killed you with no hesitation before finding us. So, what did you expect me to do? Send you to your death and still be caught?” I sighed. “Your death would’ve just caused more pain. I don’t regret what I did.”
“But… they could’ve hurt you. If Lilith hadn’t found me, you…” The old woman trailed off, wincing at the thought.
“Well, it turned out fine, and we’re alive while they’re dead.” I shrugged, gazing at Luna in Lilith’s arms. “Tell me, Rem, would you rather have an innocent girl die while you could’ve stopped it? I know, I couldn’t.”
“Vivi,” Loki called, as I turned away from them, wishing not to spend another moment within a den full of enemies.
“Hey, we have to speak,” Rem said, grabbing onto my vampire, who wished to follow me.
Sadly, there was no escape for him. However, we were glad that Thea’s plan was working as Eli had remained silent and undetectable even to the other familiars in the room.
But that can change.
Zoe was quick to follow me, though I never expected…
“I’ll go with her,” Gerta said to Asher, who nodded in response.
However, something stopped me by the door as I gazed inside the room full of adversaries.
“Oh, and I’m sure my opinion doesn’t matter in this, but if you ask me, this wasn’t by mortal hands. No coven has the power to mass control so many people at once.” I bit my lip before turning away from them again, “Well, what do I know?”
Exited, allowing the door to close behind me. This was the start of something. The day of the god’s descent was coming, and I didn’t know how to stop it.
