Fractures of Eternity

Chapter 99: The Goddess’s Dance Of Vengeance

My heart was becoming brittle with each exchange and was on the verge of shattering, yet I couldn’t let Alistair win, and I knew the right way to go about it.

“That’s enough about me. Unlike me, you’ve a shot with the person you like.” I gazed at him straight on.

“Uh, me? No, I must marry a girl. Loki will be free to marry whoever he wants, though.” Alistair answered with a frown on his lips.

“No, you don’t.” I declared, turning towards an unsuspecting Lucas.

Some females who were trying to get the blond up to dance had interrupted his gaze, yet he, too, seemed disinterested in them when I grabbed onto Alistair’s hand as the other song began. There, I dragged him towards the table where his cousin was. It was good that the dance floor was loud, as it wouldn’t allow other lurkers to listen to us, and if they did, I didn’t care.

“Vivian?” Alistair called out, yet not once did he pull away from my grip.

It was unfair how same-sex couples were dancing with each other, yet for these two, it was forbidden.

Pathetic, really. Haven’t these old fools heard of surrogacy?!

I wouldn’t allow it to be the defining factor, especially if it would strain the relationship between the brothers. If Alistair was happier than when I met him, then perhaps the future could change without me having to do much else, and for that, I would push them to the limit. It wasn’t like they were closeted because they wanted to be.

No, Alistair was forced there by his family, while Lucas could never move on from the prince. That much is evident to me! Probably… because… that’s the same way your brother looks at me. Damn it!

Releasing Alistair from my grip, I placed my hands on the table, where the blond focused on me instead of the females that were pestering him.

“Lucas, can you come with me?” I smiled, ignoring the glares from the girls.

The blonde was wearing a grey tuxedo with yellow decorations on it.

“Oi, Vivian, what are you doing?” The older brother asked, stepping closer to me.

I took the chance to grab both males by their hands before clashing them together, triggering Lucas’s cheeks to turn pink.

A push, a shove, a free fall. Enough is enough! You just need to take the plunge!

“A favor. You aren’t small, powerless children any longer, Alistair. I think it’s time for you to reach for what you want and screw everything else.” I announced, as the girls around us appeared bewildered by what I was saying.

“Wait… She knows?” The poor, clueless vampire mumbled, shifting his gaze towards his forbidden love.

“Uh…” Alistair voiced, shifting his gaze slightly away.

Though both their cheeks were pink as I held their hands together, palm to palm.

Another shove…

“She knows, and she gives you her blessing,” I smirked, letting their hands go. “So, go, take the chance and don’t stop.”

A soft smile came upon the blond vampire’s lips. “I see.”

“Lucas… I’m—” Ali fumbled as his cousin wouldn’t allow him to do so.

In an instant, he intertwined his fingers with the prince, silencing him where he stood.

“All these years… I’ve been waiting for you to realize, but… I’m up for it. I mean, if you are, Ali.” He simpered, cheeks rosy, prompting the prince’s cheeks to turn beet red.

As the scene played out in front of me, I gazed at my hands to see them shimmer lightly.

Eh?

It had all been a spur-of-the-moment thing, yet something was surging within me, as I never knew I could build something that seemed to be taking off right before my eyes.

Isn’t… destruction all I’m capable of?

Somehow, what was happening was the complete opposite as Alistair appeared to be speechless for a moment before his blue eyes glossed over, and the gentlest smile came across his lips.

“I… I’m scared, but… Okay.” Alistair breathed, clasping onto Lucas’s hands.

His tone was one full of nerves, yet he couldn’t push away the chance I had given him.

“All these years later, I still feel the same,” Lucas simpered, prompting Ali to respond the same.

“I… I do too.” He declared, eyes appearing lighter with every second that passed.

They both appeared to be in their world for a moment—a chance I would take to sneak away from them two. With a glance at my prince, I saw that he was still with Rem, which meant I couldn’t afford to go a second round with her. So, against better judgment, I stepped away from the main room and into the halls, aimlessly walking around in search of the short breather I needed, but there was no such place.

Eyes were on me from the moment I stepped away from the boys, sending shivers down my spine as I realized it was mostly males waiting for the chance to approach me. It was annoying and almost suffocating to experience. Unlike Loki’s, I didn’t welcome their attention, yet his warmth comforted me, especially all the marks he left on my body. This morning, as he left my chest tender with his affection, he left a trail of them, which were covered by the fabric of the dress, yet if anyone moved the cloth for even a centimeter, they would be met with the little bruises he had left behind.

Yet, I wanted to escape their pungent gazes, and to do so, I hurried into a nearby studio room. Little did I know that was where fates would collide again, as the room I went into was a war chamber, used by generals to discuss their plans. In front of me was Tania, engrossed in a document she held, completely unaware I had entered. She wore a beautiful red dress, which complemented her body well.

Hah… Even at a party, you’re drowning yourself in hunting us. Why…?

My heart stopped because if she turned, she would see me, and I…

“Shit! Why is this abomination so hard to find? I had her in my reach a week ago!” She snapped at the document, throwing it to the table before covering her face with her hands.

A wicked smirk rose on my lips as I removed my brooch before turning the sigil in the room on, knowing this was the perfect opportunity to exact my vengeance on her.

For Nene…

My body began to give off a soft shimmer, triggering her to turn around when she noticed it. Yet, in that same motion, I robbed her of her sight with a simple hexing spell, swiping my hand to the side and holding it there.

The effects would only last as long as I held it in place, and without her vision, she was defenseless, as Vampires needed to have their target in sight for their blood control ability to work. It was why their night vision was so powerful, yet I also knew that with age, those senses dulled. The vampire in front of me was seventy-three, even though she didn’t look or act like it. No, she seemed to be in her fifties at most, as her agility never left her, but I caught her off guard, in a place she deemed her home.

Losing her sight, though, didn’t startle her, as she reached for her empty crimson gaze.

“To rob my sight so efficiently without uttering a word. You must be very talented.” Tania breathed, closing her eyes.

Of course, she was a sharp vampire. She had been the one who located the coven when they lived near the howling forest. The same place Alijah was brought back into this world. Not only that, but she was one of the reasons we had to keep moving, as she kept tracking us like her life depended on it.

“I’m your death,” I voiced, devoid of any emotion.

In response, she smiled warily. “Hm… It seems like you are.” She turned to me, knowing where I was, thanks to her hearing.

“Are you part of the coven that dreadful elf serves under?” Tania asked, causing me to cackle a bit.

Huh? Why do you question me like you’re the one in control?

“She isn’t important,” I informed, stepping to the side, as I had to keep moving to avoid her at human speed.

This was why vampires feared us, witchcraft users, as we could easily trample over them with our spells if they were caught off guard.

“Oh, but she’s essential to me. Isn’t she the one who sent you after I got this close to finding her this time?” She continued to prod.

Me? Being sent by Lilith? What a joke. Too bad that will be your end. There's no one here to stop me from enacting my wrath!
