Fractures of Eternity

Chapter 58: A Shocked Goddess

Closing the gap between us, my vampire clasped onto my hand, prompting my gaze to turn towards him.

“Oi, what’s the matter?” He asked, holding tighter onto me.

Hold it in…This must be nothing but a fancy that poisons my soul, but not yours.

“It is illegal for them to come for my blood, right?” I sighed, pretending that it bothered me.

My words caused him to narrow his eyes and tug me towards him. There it was again, the protective and possessiveness over me he showed while that female vampire was around.

Hah… I want to give myself to it, but we aren’t made for one another. I’m a goddess and you’re a mere mortal.

“It is. Don’t worry. I won’t let anyone other than me sink their teeth into you.” Loki promised.

His assurance only caused pangs in my heart again.

Why don’t you sink your teeth into me? Do you respect me enough to keep them to yourself? Or are you getting bored with me?

“That doesn’t sound reassuring.” I frowned before drawing away from him and continuing to walk towards the Café, where we would get food.

What I wanted to ask the vampire, who held my heart, wouldn’t come out of me.

This emotion is nothing but a burden—one that I feel is sinking me deeper into my grave.

Before I knew it, I clenched my hands into my dress, trying to fight off the tears that had come to life the day I expressed everything to him. It was silly how I never cried for anyone other than him.

Why do you have to dig yourself into a way that I never wanted? No! I need to get a hold of myself! It doesn’t matter that I experience all my firsts with you. It doesn’t matter how gentle you are; every time we try something new. Nor does it matter that we did everything in the book. None of that matters!

The warmth of what we did earlier in the alley still radiated out of my core, too. I couldn’t help but wonder if Loki felt the same warmth from what we did before, or if it was a moment thing for him. The way he kissed me and his expressions were ingrained in my mind.

Hey… Am I in yours? Huh? It’s useless to think this! Focus!

I tried to keep my speed up to hide my expression from Loki, but I couldn’t, not while Eli was on me. So, I tried to keep my head up, ignoring everything that I wanted to rush out of me.

Who would’ve thought that having vampires crave for my blood would come secondary at this moment? Even the assassins who were after the boys to make Rem suffer were irrelevant. Damn, get a grip! I’m a goddess! A goddess!

This disease called love was something that would destroy everything I aimed for if I didn’t control it.

Pathetic, it makes me a mess.

Even though I tried to, I couldn’t help but reflect some agony on my face. I felt my lips press together as my entire being felt like I was shrinking.

Hah… I want to—

“I won’t marry anyone in that ball or anyone they choose for me, Vivian. I hope you know that.” Loki suddenly announced, stopping me in my tracks.

Can you read minds? Is that an ability of the blood magic? No... it is...

I shot a glare at Eli, who appeared almost to break into a sweat because of it.

“No one asked you! I couldn’t care if you married that freaking cow from earlier!” I huffed without gazing back, clenching my hands into fists.

I could already feel his smirk growing on his lips upon hearing that. My voice betrayed me. No, everything about me gave me away to him. All but my harsh words that always unphased him.

“Ah… I see. I just wanted to clear the air of any misunderstandings.” Loki chuckled, enjoying the pitch in my voice.

Hah… I’m happy to hear that. So much that I...

“Hmph… I don’t care.” I repeated, unable to shake off the smile that grew on my lips before grabbing Eli, throwing him onto Loki.

“And keep your familiar to yourself!” I added with a slight scowl before turning back toward our destination, smiling.

It was illegal how such simple words could fill me with such reprieve.

Ah… I honestly can’t understand it anymore.

After that, we stopped by the Café to bring Oswald food too. Ro was as lovely as always. Although she was complaining about having too many customers coming by, this was due to the large number of workers out and about. She wasn’t used to this amount of traffic, yet it brought her profits. Finishing a drink at the Café while waiting for the food, we left, heading to the castle as dusk was blessing us with the light dimming around the city.

Our first stop was by Loki’s room to drop off food that we had bought for ourselves, when he removed the barricades from Oswald’s room door. From there, he opened it up, only to be stunned by what awaited us inside. Loki froze by the door when I peeked in, only to do the same as he had. A moan flowed through the air as a scene played out in front of us. The noise came from a woman’s voice—one that I recognized even though I had never heard her make those sounds before.

A squeal quickly erupted from Emma once we were spotted before she flew into the bathroom, closing the door behind her. It almost appeared like a ghost ran by when she took part of the sheets with her. Oswald sat up in bed, growling at Loki and me as his eyes shimmered brightly, while we stood there dumbfounded.

Eh?! Doesn’t Emma hate him? Did I miss something?

It didn’t seem that Oswald was distressed at being with her, since our interruption ticked him off. It was the first time I ever saw Oz without his ponytail, making him appear much like Loki’s clone. His hair reached past his neck, unlike Loki’s, which came down his hips. It was slightly curly too, and it didn’t help that he was rolling on the bed doing indecencies before we came in. He was shirtless, too, and the mark that linked us was visible on his chest.

“Loki, you fucking moron. Didn’t you say we had to knock for each other?!” The warlock hissed.

Unlike the vampire who stood next to me, I didn’t have a key for the door—the harsh words caused the stunned twin to snap out of his shock and move.

“Hah? You never did, so why should I?” Loki huffed. Eyes twitching.

Oz grumbled while his brother left the food on the table. At least he looked better than I had last seen him. Though his dark circles were still present in his eyes, the gash he had on his forehead was healing nicely. After leaving the food on the table, Loki turned to his brother, while I shyly gazed away towards my prince’s room.

“So, is she treating you alright?” The vampire tried to hold back his laughter, only to receive a pillow to the face from his twin.

“Fuck off!” Oswald growled, eyes twitching.

At that moment, the man who held my heart broke out laughing, his eyes filled with tenderness, towards his cranky brother. A second later, he headed to where I was frozen, grabbing me by my arm.

“Well, it’s good to see you’re feeling better. Have fun!” he winked at his brother, only to quickly close the door behind him, placing a chair under the handle again.

I could imagine Oswald’s rage behind the barrier that held him. The twin that was next to me gazed down at me, only to see that I was staring at the door, dumbfounded by what I had witnessed.

Emma’s fucking Oswald. How did that come to be?

Rolling his eyes at me, it wasn’t long until I found myself in his bed with my lover towering over me.
