Chapter 39: The Goddess’s Daring Plan
Before I could move, one of the beasts spoke, stopping me in my tracks.
"If we capture this boy. He might lead us to the book, right?" The drake sneered at the feline beast, who nodded.
They’re after you to find me?!
My necklace hid me from them, yet they sensed something in Loki while being completely unaware of me.
"Fuck you!" The vampire snarled, struggling to find his footing.
Move! Stop being so pathetic and move! Vivian!
Yet my body refused to listen to me once again. Every fiber of my being was telling me to run away from there.
"Yes, they’re connected, after all. It can’t possibly ignore its link being captured." The cat smirked.
They’re aware?! How?! Is it the human witch connected to them?! The information must’ve leaked out because of her! Fuck! If they know, then the boys are in constant danger from the soul cairn, too!
They slowly closed the gap between them.
Screw it… If the living ones don’t know yet, then I can live with that.
Though they were probably closer to the Mythical rank than Ancient. Probably some high-ranking servants of the gods who came through, or perhaps they were full of themselves because I wouldn’t come quietly.
With little hesitation, I ran towards them. This wasn’t how I hoped things would go, but plans rarely worked out the way one wanted them.
"Shit!" Loki cursed under his breath, sitting against one of the collapsed buildings.
However, it all changed the moment I ran between them as I held my hands wide apart, protectively shielding the vampire behind me.
"Vivian?!" my prince gasped as I kept my eyes locked on the beings that sent terror through my being.
I held my hands wide apart protectively, facing the things that sent terror into my being.
"You won’t touch him!" I declared at the beasts, who quickly locked eyes with me.
My heartbeat became faster than ever before as I couldn’t help but feel like my father and Lilith would both be utterly disappointed with me. They had trained me not to be so stupid, yet there I was in my rashest moment to date.
My emotions for the mortal who was behind me were what caused this to happen.
If only I didn’t care what happened to you, but I care too much! I can’t bear the thought of something happening to you!
I tried so hard not to tremble, but it was impossible. Surely, I was about to become a prisoner once again. However, it would have been better if they had taken me instead of him.
You may not touch my bright star!
"What the fuck? Would you look at this human girl?" the cat snickered, gazing at me with hungry eyes.
The golden star sapphire necklace was doing its job, as in their gaze, I was a freaky human who didn’t value her life. They couldn’t recognize me even when I was facing them.
Hah… Papa… Your trinkets are really too amazing.
Thankfully, it would save me some pain for the time being, but it also meant I was nothing more than a bug to be squashed by them.
"Eh, she has guts, though. Most humans run away, not carrying who they leave behind." The drake smirked, sliding down towards us.
"Don’t fucking touch her!" Loki growled, only to cough up blood because of his injuries.
The cat got close enough to swipe me from existence if it wanted to, but they found me intriguing instead since I was something to torment the boy behind me. I tried to fight the urge to turn to him and help him, as they would meet any movement I made with violence.
"Tell me, girl. What do you think you’re going to do?" The feline beast questioned as I kept myself firm as a meat shield for the vampire behind me.
Usually, shadow beasts that were summoned randomly throughout the world were in timed battles, which meant they would disappear after one to three hours, but not even a full hour had passed yet.
Struggling with the dread that made me tremble while under its eyes, I remained unwavering. The fear of losing the vampire behind me outweighed anything these beasts could do to me.
It’ll have to be Plan B, I guess.
If I took off the necklace, they would take me and leave him alone. Sadly, my first plan was lacking the right conditions as these monsters were too close for me to act on it.
"I-I…” My voice shook, watching the cat flash its monstrous fangs at me before it leaned closer to me.
"What little girl?" it snickered as its tail flicked beside me.
If… only I didn’t… No… because I care. I’m capable of doing anything!
"I’ll destroy you if you touch him!" I shook my fear away, reaching for my necklace.
The cat tilted its head, "Ah, your head will roll for that, you ungrateful mortal!"
Its tail swiped as I gripped my necklace.
It’s over...
Before I could snap it off, Loki suddenly yanked me back from behind as a gust of wind rushed towards us from both sides. Eli and a silver wolf with black spots came between us and the beast as the snake went for the drake while the other one launched itself at the cat.
The wolf had light purple flames around its body, alerting me that it was no one other than Rem’s son. I tumbled onto the floor in Loki's arms while the two beasts were launched into one of the crumbled buildings.
Shifting into his human form, the pup still lacked the power to purify the beast by himself, unlike his mother.
"Are you two okay?" he asked without shifting his gaze away from the danger.
I somehow found myself saved from having to expose who I truly was when the demons screeched within the rubble.
"At the nick of time, Leo." Loki sighed, holding me tightly to him.
Snapping out of the initial shock, I turned to face him, not expecting to see the irritation that warped his face. Even if it were to save him, that didn’t stop his temper from flaring against me, yet that didn’t worry me.
He was covered in so many cuts and blood that it made me wonder how he was still conscious. I was between his legs while his arms were around my shoulders, while he glared at me.
"Are you fucking crazy?! Why did you come?!" My vampire snapped as I was just happy to see him still breathing.
"So, what if I am?! I’ll protect you even if it costs me my sanity! Don’t you realize how important you are?!" I declared, causing his eyes to widen.
“What?” He mumbled, as I wasted little time in exposing my neck and shoulder to him.
If I tried to feed him from my wrist, the sleeve might’ve inhibited the blood flow from my blood vessels.
"I need you to shut up, be a good boy, and drink my blood!" I commanded, prompting him to shake his head.
With my blood, he could overwhelm those two demons with ease. Heck, he could probably go one-on-one with one of the living gods since I was a divine being, making my blood even more exquisite than that of an eternal witch alone.
“W-What?! No! My bite will mess you up, or did you forget that, sweetheart?" He huffed, eyes shimmering as I faced him head-on.
My mask didn’t matter anymore; all that mattered was making it out of this unharmed.
“Hah?! We wouldn’t be in this mess if you weren’t such an idiotic vampire! This won’t do at all! Just how many girls have you bitten until now and not cared about? I’m no different! Especially in this scenario!” I countered.
“Huh? But—” He went to speak, as I wasn’t in the mood to hear him out.
Screw it! I’ll do it myself!
Grabbing a shard of glass on the floor, I sliced the skin from my shoulder as the pain was nothing compared to the thought of losing him.
There’s no other way! Leo isn’t strong enough to purify two beasts!
Instead of drinking, he bit his lip as blood dripped down his chin because of it, before he faced away from me.
No!
"What are you doing?! Loki, drink!" I huffed, grabbing onto his shirt.
“I-I can’t! It’ll fuck with you so bad!” Loki covered his mouth with his hand, eyes shimmering brighter.
For once, I played unfairly, biting my tongue before using my blood as lipstick by licking it onto my lips.
Hah… I’m sorry for putting you in this position, my darling vampire. You’ve given me no choice. I want you to live not just because you’re my link.
Not backing down, I grabbed onto his chin, forcing him to gaze at me with those bright blue eyes, which I had come to adore.
“What—” He went to speak as in that moment, I clashed my lips with his.
Unfair indeed. I’m sorry.
This time it wasn’t as innocent as the last since I forced my tongue into his mouth, allowing the iron taste to seep into him. Grabbing onto the back of my head, he deepened the kiss, making me press my body against him. It almost felt like he was sucking me into himself as his soft spongy muscle lapped my entire cavity in search for his subsistence.
Ah… My mouth isn’t enough, you need to drink from…
I tried to tug away from him, only for his strength not to let me move. Instead, he gripped my other shoulder, tugging my dress down further with his other hand and exposing my entire injured shoulder. Luckily, my hair hid the mark that started on it from anyone looking toward us.
Gripping onto my hair, he lightly pulled on it as he drew away from my lips before leaning towards my shoulder and licking my open wound. My heart was in my throat as I knew it wouldn’t be long until his teeth found their way into me.
“It’s okay. You don’t have to hold back, Loki.” I breathed, wincing as his tongue lapped my skin.
A soft hum left his lips before pulling me closer to him as his spongy muscle trailed on my nape, leaving a trail of fire in its wake. Clasping onto his shirt, I trembled when I felt his fangs trace against my skin before they suddenly went in.
The sensation that erupted within me was one out of this world as my body burned hotter. Whines escaped my lips before I bit into his shirt, trying to muffle them while the weirdest tingly sensation rose within my lower abdomen, prompting my hips to buck forward toward him.
Eh? What is this?
