Livelihood Dungeon! (English Version)

Chapter Twenty-Seven: Lurking Danger

"ROAR!"

"Grrr!"

Clang! Clang!

In one corner of the vast forest, a fierce battle was taking place.

One against many.

Many against one.

Normally, the side with greater numbers held the advantage, while the lone fighter stood at a disadvantage.

But the Eternal Forest was a different matter entirely.

Here, common sense seemed nothing more than a joke.

After all, this place swarmed with spirit beasts.

And spirit beasts were synonymous with impossibility, brutality, and chaos.

Suddenly, a gigantic shadow charged toward the goblins who were firing arrows from the rear of their group.

The incoming barrage of arrows met it head-on.

Yet they appeared utterly useless.

The gigantic creature did not slow down in the slightest as it charged forward.

It only avoided the arrows aimed at its head.

As for the ones targeting its body, it confidently allowed them to strike.

And with every impact—

The arrows merely bounced off and fell to the ground as though they had struck solid steel.

A mocking grin spread across the giant monster's face as it reached the line of goblin archers.

It slowly raised its enormous clawed arm.

Then, without the slightest hesitation, it swung.

Its sharp claws tore through the lined-up goblins like knives slicing through butter.

Covered in blood, the monster slowly turned toward the remaining goblins.

Several of them instinctively stepped back upon seeing its glaring red eyes, enormous fangs, and terrifying physique.

The ground rumbled as it planted itself firmly on all four legs.

The goblins tightened their grips on their weapons even more after seeing the beast assume a posture that signaled another assault.

The earth trembled slightly as it moved once again.

No one was able to react to the gigantic bear's overwhelming speed.

The unfortunate goblins caught in its attack were instantly torn to shreds.

Two of them still had their eyes wide open when the monster's massive forepaw grabbed them.

Their bones from the chest upward were completely crushed.

Their small spears merely lay scattered on the ground.

They did not even get the chance to use them to defend themselves.

Meanwhile, the last goblin was trapped within the cruel bear's jaws.

The beast thoroughly enjoyed itself as it slowly devoured its hysterically screaming victim.

Its drooling mouth was drenched in blood.

To the violent monster, the goblin's desperate screams sounded like music.

It deliberately slowed its chewing so the victim would remain alive a little longer.

And when it finally grew bored—

Only then did it finally clamp its jaws down completely.

The remaining goblin warriors witnessed it all.

Terror engulfed them as they listened to the bear chewing on the flesh of their companion.

Until all they could hear was the sickening crack of breaking bones—

The signal of his death.

The survival instincts of every remaining goblin immediately kicked in.

Driven by fear and desperation, some fled in panic while others charged forward.

But the gigantic bear merely sneered at them.

It casually tossed aside the half-chewed corpse of the goblin before opening its bloody mouth to reveal its giant fangs.

With open arms, it welcomed the approaching warriors.

The savage predator even burst into laughter as it charged toward the victims willingly throwing themselves into its grasp.

That was when the bear's true banquet began.

It slaughtered the goblins with brutal speed—

And devoured them one by one.

A series of growls and triumphant roars from the victorious monster thundered throughout the forest.

After that, it just so happened to turn toward Peter's direction.

And it roared once more.

...

The strange group was completely unaware as they played around.

One human and three spirit beasts of different species.

The giant wolf ran in circles while a small monkey rode on its back.

The two spirit beasts were having the time of their lives even though they were merely running around a small clearing.

The pair were Ichiro and the young monkey, who had now become the closest of friends.

Meanwhile, their master sat happily at the side, watching the two.

That master was Peter.

He was also the one who had made the small circular play area after recently cutting down the tall grass in that part of the Eternal Forest that served as their meeting point.

Peter was in the middle of taking a drink from his cup when he suddenly spat it out in shock.

In an instant, Ichiro shifted into a battle stance.

The young monkey almost fell from its back.

Fortunately, the monkey's reflexes were quick enough for it to immediately grab onto the wolf's thick fur.

At the same time, Iyashi swiftly slid toward Peter's leg to hide behind him.

The startled flying creatures around them also scattered into the air.

There was only one reason for it.

All of them had heard it.

A horrifying roar—

One filled with rage, arrogance, and savage violence.

Peter's mind quickly began working once he recovered from the shock.

"Iyashi, come here!" he ordered the slime through telepathy.

The Regeneration Slime immediately jumped onto his shoulder.

"I'll take you home, kid!" he shouted toward the young monkey.

Although the monkey could not fully understand his words, it understood the gravity of the situation through Peter's tone.

It jumped down from Ichiro's back before turning toward Peter.

Then it repeatedly pounded its chest with the side of its clenched fist.

Peter could only laugh at what he saw.

Despite the danger, the little monkey was actually trying to reassure him instead.

But even with traces of worry in their hearts, they both knew it was the right decision.

For the young monkey's safety—

They went their separate ways.

As the incredibly fast young monkey dashed away, Peter called out firmly to his companion.

"Ichiro."

His voice was firm and heavy.

The giant wolf nodded grimly in response.

And in the next moment—

They all entered the Livelihood Dungeon together.

...

Only a few moments had passed since they separated, yet the young monkey had already covered a great distance.

It moved with incredible agility, using all four limbs to run and climb.

The child's eyes lit up when it spotted their home in the distance.

It skillfully climbed the rough trunk of a gigantic tree.

Its movements were so nimble that even the most skilled burglars would feel ashamed in comparison.

"Mom!" the young monkey called out to the wounded female monkey.

The youngster did not even break a sweat from completing the difficult climb.

The female monkey immediately shifted her gaze from below the tree toward her child.

"My child! Are you alright? Did you hear that as well?" she asked worriedly.
