Villainess x Grimoire

Ch:50 – Disgraced one

At home, inside my room, I found out then, about what the system meant with new options unlocked.

My eyes devoured the information, completely excited with everything that mattered.

I disregarded the warning, couldn't care any less, hastily having my way with unlocking it. My eyes scrolled through the existing list. I had three unlocked classes; however, none were to my taste.

But then, there it was, at the very bottom. Everything I ever wanted since my father's lesson: one of my most ambitious goals, worth risking my life for.

Disgrace:

Rare Grade:

Witch (6/6) Achievements cleared. Unlocked.

'Finally...' something was going my way for once, a rare class.

'Witch?' My fingertip touched it. Its rarity alone was almost enough to compel me to select it. But then information flowed into my brain, which made me grin, pleased.

A magical class capable of cursing targets and objects. Distinct magic skills that enable the user to weaken their foes. It also has the possibility to research spells and to brew potions.

'I want it,' and I took it, no doubts remaining, no questions asked.

System: This action cannot be undone.

'I want it!' The excitement, mana exhaustion, and whatever my sister did to bolster me, overwhelmed my decision capability. However, I had a strong hunch there would be no part of me, which would come to regret this decision.

System: You've earned some new affiliations.

Notice: Your class has resonated with your emotions; a moon and a nature seed have been planted within your soul.

'What?' Despite trying to understand what the machinery of this world meant with such words, there was no resolute answer for me to grasp.

Quickly, I looked into my status, finding out my disgrace reached 5000. It was a huge amount, five times more than my fame, which was the points goddess Aria supposedly took a liking to. Then I checked the affiliation section, feeling a little nervous.

[

Affiliation:

Goddess Aria: Positive.

God of Chaos: Neutral.

Goddess of Order: Negative.

God of Evil: Neutral.

'Nothing changed.'

Even though I didn't like Aria or favor her, still, she was the goddess of us humans. Therefore, I didn't want to lose her blessing.

Notice: The soul-bound bolstering ability has ceased.

I took a deep breath as I felt whole again.

'Thank you, sister,' my hand grip released, allowing a wave of calmness to flow through my mind all the way to my nails.

The memories of what I did to those goblins persisted. I had gotten them killed. I was unwilling to give it another thought, another upsetting remembrance.

'Witch class?' I pondered not losing my temper. The excitement that coursed through me could be overwhelming sometimes.

System: The starting class skill has been unlocked: witchcraft. The user will receive their basic information.

A wave of data traveled through my brain.

"Oh, my goodness," my sister had been right about things having opposite sides, like the two faces of a coin and day and night.

'My father and sister elements.'

A satisfied smile filled my face, 'to think they would go on a trip together.'

My eyes caught sight of my new skill on the status, consuming the typical low amount of mana to check it. Still, I touched it lightly, just enough to know that something would pop up. And it did, quickly at that.

My eyes rolled skyward, ending up staring blankly at the wooden floor. The system had outdone me. Now I was stuck with a class that didn't bring me a minimum of utility. At least, not unless I found something to fill the skill with.

'Why does everything in this god-forsaken world have to be so complicated?' Cursing everything was just part of my routine, especially when I was right about it. However, it was also true that there was nothing gained without effort. Every little thing required more and more of me. It seemed that Artana carried many risks, especially for those aiming higher.

'Guess who'll have to learn about herbs and plants? Guess who'll have to learn more about alchemy? Guess who'll have to endanger herself to find ingredients?' I faced the mirror, looking at the person who was screwed. The green-eyed blond cutie who stood in front of me.

"You!" I shouted while pointing a finger at the glass.

This time around, there was no escape for me. I knew reading books was the key; therefore, studying would follow, and taking notes would become a must.

Was I ready for it? I sighed before embracing yet another challenge. Even if I wasn't, it would not matter as nothing was changeable. I knew some classes and how many had skills like this, which meant to force the user to learn a certain aspect of their core. But it felt painful when I had waited a long time for it. Even more so after working hard in my own way to get an amazing rarity.

I smiled.

'At last... I got it.' It was rare enough, just like my element, a good signal. Potentially, it was the best I could get without self-harming further in who knows how many more adventures.

Exalted sensations that took me a while to digest, eventually allowing myself to find peace.

The excitement didn't halt despite everything.

Without a doubt, this class could be a fortune in disguise: I hoped dearly. 'I'll find a way to make my class worthwhile.'

A new desire quickly grew to become a pretentious goal: where there was will and effort, results would follow.

I firmly believed these words.

'Achievements...' those words echoed in my mind, unaware of which ones those had been. I took out the respective status window.

I looked at the wall of text on the screen window with a pleased smirk. I had done a lot to become better, even if it never felt enough at the end of the day. Still, I was proud of my deeds, and no one could steal that away from me. I took a good look at everything, including the completed ones.

'Cow, chicken, pig, goat...' the list of the variety of killed animals was large among the achievements outside this specific set. Its amount was no joke either. Were these related to the recent rumors of missing animals? My hand covered my mouth as I realized it had been her doing.

Witch achievements set:

Demon worshipper(1/1)

Blood drunk(1/1)

Animal butcher(1/1)

Cemetery wanderer(1/1)

Heavenly symbol burnt(1/1)

Baby killer(1/1)

However, what hinted fear in my heart were the ones inside the set I was gazing at.

'Demon worshipper?' This achievement made me quite wary. How and when had this happened? How did I manage to miss it till now?

'Baby killer?' My eyes widened, conflicted about it. I checked the titles, ending up relieved for not finding human slayer or kin slayer titles. Still, what infant did Aurora kill? A monster? It didn't make sense as my experience hadn't gotten higher than what I earned through my labor. The questions started to pile up inside my mind, making me feel lacking and incompetent for failing to keep track of Aurora's deeds. And that's when something clicked in my mind. 'Did I get this class because of these? Thanks to her?'

That was likely; her effort had been helpful for sure. On disgrace alone, it was quite a high value, whatever that signified to the intricate system.

However, while we knew fame and disgrace partook a certain role in unlocking things related to the grand machinery. Neither of us knew in what exact way it worked.

'A box of glittering surprises,' was my honest opinion of this world. I knew that not everything that shone was good. Other beings could use skills after all.

For the time being, I had to focus on improving my knowledge, my wisdom, and my intelligence parameters. 'Together, they should help me learn recipes.'

Satisfied with my decision, I ventured to the library in search of the one man who could guide me to my newly chosen path: Einstein.
