Marvel: God of Spotlight, The Homelander

Chapter 586 The Truth Comes to Light

Of course, if this girl wouldn’t cooperate.

For Christine, he wouldn’t mind eliminating a trouble in this remote Universe.

Anyway, the people in this Universe weren’t anyone he was familiar with.

"Really? Can you really help me control it?" A hint of hope flashed in America’s eyes.

She was too tired, and the endless flight had driven her to the verge of a breakdown.

If someone could teach her how to use this power, she wouldn’t have to hide everywhere like a street rat.

"Of course, I promise." Strange smiled and nodded. "Now, take a deep breath. Recall the feeling every time you open a Portal. Close your eyes and feel the flow of that power within your body. Try to build a door in your mind, a door leading to the place you want to go."

America closed her eyes and tried to follow Strange’s instructions.

She frowned tightly, her breathing grew rapid, and her hands gripped the water cup tightly.

One minute passed.

Strange comforted her, telling her not to rush and to take it slow.

Five minutes passed.

Strange encouraged her to believe in herself and that she could definitely do it.

Ten minutes passed.

Still, nothing happened.

There were no magic fluctuations, nor any star-shaped Portals.

"No... I can’t do it." America opened her eyes in frustration. "I can’t feel anything."

The corner of Strange’s eye twitched slightly.

The corruption of the darkhold was wantonly amplifying his negative emotions.

Irritability, impatience, and even a hint of killing intent began to spread deep within his heart.

He forced down his anger, and his voice became a bit stiffer.

"Try again. Focus, America. You aren’t trash, right? The power within your body is enough to shake the entire multi-Universe, don’t let it hide in your body like a turtle hiding its head."

"I said I can’t do it!" America suddenly stood up, slamming the water cup heavily onto the table.

"It can only be triggered when I am extremely terrified! How do you expect me to use it now? Are you going to kill me?"

Strange’s gaze turned sharp. For a split second, he really wanted to use magic to forcefully tear open the girl’s brain and see where that power was hidden.

At this moment, his tone had lost its feigned gentleness, becoming full of oppression.

"I’m not going to kill you, kid. But I need your cooperation. I saved your life, you owe me a favor. Now, sit down, close your eyes, and keep trying."

The atmosphere seemed to drop to freezing point.

America keenly sensed the dangerous aura on Strange.

The look that this man, who called himself Doctor Strange, revealed just a moment ago was even more terrifying than the monsters outside.

Just as Strange was about to take action and forcefully coerce America, the Shadow beneath America’s feet suddenly wriggled violently.

Immediately afterward, a pitch-black fierce beast, almost integrated with the shadows, lunged out from the darkness.

This was another multi-Universe demonic beast tracking them down, the "Shadow Demon".

It excelled at hiding in any Shadow, having no physical form and being composed entirely of negative energy.

The Shadow Demon’s target was very clear, heading straight for America.

Its speed was too fast, so fast that even Strange was caught off guard.

By the time he sensed danger, it was already too late to cast spells.

After all, the body he was possessing didn’t have a Sandevistan.

But nothing could happen to America.

She was the only hope to see Christine.

If she died, all his efforts would be in vain, and he would be forever trapped in that cold World without Christine.

In a flash of lightning, bodily instinct made the decision for him.

He gave up casting spells and directly used this body belonging to the Doctor Strange of another Universe to block in front of America.

"Pfft!"

The Shadow Demon’s order was to capture America alive, and as for enemies obstructing it, it would eliminate them without hesitation.

Those sharp claws, like sharp knives, ruthlessly pierced through Strange’s chest.

Blood instantly dyed the mage’s robes red.

"Cough..."

Strange opened his mouth, gushing out a large amount of blood.

He forcibly rallied his spirits, formed seals with both hands, and his magic power erupted, a repulsion ring temporarily repelling the Shadow Demon.

"Run...!" Strange shouted with difficulty.

America fell to the ground, watching in terror everything happening before her eyes.

The man who was threatening her just a few seconds ago was now using his body to block a fatal blow for her.

"No no no!... Oh God..."

America backed away using her hands and feet.

Terror, guilt, and confusion broke through her psychological defense at this moment.

The shred of security that had just been established collapsed instantly, and under the stimulation of this death threat, her instinct was finally activated once more.

The space behind America shattered with a bang, and a star-shaped Portal exuding brilliant starlight suddenly formed.

"Ah—!"

America didn’t notice the situation behind her, stepped into empty air, and fell directly into it.

The Shadow Demon let out an angry roar, trying to chase after her, but the Portal closed instantly after America fell in, leaving only a gradually cooling mage’s corpse on the floor of the grand hall.

...

Meanwhile, within the Earth-616 Universe.

Wanda Maximoff, dressed in a dark red robe and wearing a scarlet crown, abruptly opened her eyes.

Chaos Magic rolled within the depths of her eyes.

Just moments ago, through the Shadow Demon’s perspective, she had witnessed with her own eyes the man who hindered her from capturing America.

That man was dead.

But the point wasn’t that he was dead, but rather that Wanda felt an extremely familiar power from that corpse.

The power of the darkhold.

That man was using Dream-walking!

Wanda slowly raised her hand, Chaos Magic lingering between her fingertips, tracing complex runes in mid-air.

She was using the power of the darkhold to conduct reverse tracing.

A few minutes later, the truth surfaced.

That dead Doctor Strange was not the main body at all.

That was a Strange variant from another Universe, remotely controlled using the darkhold.

Moreover, she also saw another truth.

The Doctor Strange of another Universe actually had the same goal as her, both trying to seize the power capable of shuttling through the multi-Universe.

Unconcealed killing intent condensed into substantial red mist around Wanda.

America Chavez’s ability was a unique, one-of-a-kind item in the vast multi-Universe.

This was the only way for Wanda to truly retrieve her two lost children.

Now, someone actually dared to meddle and tried to steal this sole ticket?

"No matter which Universe’s Stephen Strange you are..." Wanda’s expression gradually distorted, her face revealing an obsession of nearly crazy maternity. "No one can snatch away the thing that calls back my children. No one!"

Wanda closed her eyes once more, and the massive Chaos Magic began to spread wildly across the dimensional web of the multi-Universe.

She wanted to track the coordinates of the Universe America fled to, and at the same time track that suicidal Stephen Strange.
