Chapter 533 Earth Will Prevail
Tony pretended to be scared and said,
"You are too cruel, Miss Potts. Now I have no choice but to come back."
Pepper stopped joking and threw herself into Tony’s arms.
"Don’t try to be a hero, Tony. Come back safely, I’ll be waiting for you at home."
"I promise." Tony patted her back.
On the other side, Peter Parker was checking his backpack under Aunt May’s instructions.
"Peter, did you pack your allergy medicine?"
"It’s in the left pocket, Aunt May. I brought everything."
Aunt May hugged Peter, her eyes full of worry.
"Peter, remember what I said. Don’t try to be a hero, listen to Mr. Homelander’s commands, and don’t make him angry."
"Don’t worry, May!" Peter put on his Spider-Man mask. "I’m New York’s friendliest neighbor, and Homelander likes me a lot too!"
Thor, standing to the side, was bragging to Jane Foster with full confidence.
"Jane, don’t worry." Thor patted his chest. "I will cut off Thanos’s head and bring it back as a goblet for our wedding!"
Jane rolled her eyes helplessly.
"Thor, I don’t need an alien’s head for a goblet, that’s disgusting."
"I heard you lost your weapon again last time, so make sure not to lose it this time. Also, don’t let anyone blind your other eye."
"If you just bring yourself back in one piece, I’ll be grateful to the heavens."
Jane stood on her tiptoes and kissed Thor on the lips.
"Go show them what you’ve got, darling."
The scene that surprised everyone the most happened over by Steve Rogers.
Steve Rogers was holding a woman’s hand.
The two whispered a few words, and then the woman planted a deep kiss on Steve’s lips.
"Good heavens, am I seeing things?"
An abrupt voice broke the atmosphere.
Tony Stark walked over with a look of pure gossip on his face.
"Captain America, the moral compass of Earth, the legendary centenarian virgin, is actually kissing a blonde beauty before heading out?"
Tony smirked.
"Captain, you’ve done a great job keeping this secret! I thought you were going to spend the rest of your life with that silver-armed Bucky."
Steve’s cheeks flushed slightly; he let go of the woman’s hand and looked at Tony helplessly.
"Tony, this is Sharon. We are seeing each other normally."
"Sharon? Hmm... I remember now, isn’t that Agent Carter’s grandniece? I saw her at the funeral." Tony said in surprise. "What is this? A cross-temporal family reunion plan?"
"Good heavens, are you even human? When you were dating her great-aunt, she hadn’t even been born yet." Tony rubbed his forehead and teased in an exaggerated tone.
"Shut up, Tony! Get on the ship." Steve glared at him.
Rogers’s reaction caused the few people who had come over to watch the commotion to burst into laughter.
At this moment, the scheduled time was almost up.
The broadcast sounded, signaling that the boarding procedure was about to begin.
Homelander walked with his hands behind his back, stepping steadily to the very front of the high platform.
Several drones immediately flew closer, and every screen across the globe switched to a close-up of him.
The noisy scene gradually quieted down, and the whole World waited for his farewell speech.
"When I was a child, I lived on my grandfather’s farm." Homelander began slowly. "Back then, every night, I would lie on the haystacks in the backyard and look at the stars."
"I was always thinking: What is out there? Is there life like ours? Are they, like me, longing to make many good friends?"
The crowd below listened quietly, and many revealed knowing smiles.
"Until one day, as you all know, the aliens really came." Homelander spread his hands. "But they didn’t bring friendship; they brought endless war."
"They think Earth is backward; they think humanity is weak."
Homelander wiped the smile from his face, his expression turning cold and stern.
"But they were wrong!"
"Although we don’t have fleets spanning the galaxy, and we don’t have the hegemony to rule the Universe yet, we possess something they will never understand!"
"We have love! We have the courage to draw our swords against any powerful enemy to protect our families!"
"Now, that so-called galactic overlord is attempting to use his military might to obstruct our right to survive!"
"Do you agree?!"
"No!!!" A deafening roar erupted from below.
"I don’t agree either!" Homelander also roared, full of vigor. "That is why we stand here today. I am going to take the bravest warriors of Earth and step into that sea of stars!"
"We are not doing this for slaughter, not for fame or glory."
"We are doing this for survival! To ensure that every child on Earth no longer feels fear when they look up at the starry sky!"
"Perhaps some are worried, will we lose?"
Homelander’s firm gaze slowly swept over the crowd below.
"Listen, as long as you are still standing behind me, as long as you still love me..."
"I, Homelander, will never fall!"
"I promise you, we will bring the future back to Earth!"
"Earth, must win!"
As his voice fell.
"Earth must win!!!"
"Long live Homelander!!!"
The cheers erupting from the scene were deafening, almost overturning the sky of New York.
People waved the flags in their hands frantically, countless people filled with tears of emotion.
The online live stream chat also exploded, with comments obscuring the screen like a blizzard.
"My God! This speech gave me goosebumps all over!"
"Damn! This speech! My heart can’t take it!"
"Long live Homelander! Earth is enough with him!"
"If he doesn’t come back, there’s no point in me living either!"
The fanatical emotions once again transformed into the purest popularity value.
Notification! Gained popularity value + 495400!
Notification! Gained popularity value + 512355!
...
The joy of a bountiful harvest spread in his heart.
He took the lead and walked toward the warship.
Ancient One, Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Spider-Man, and Nebula followed closely behind.
Finally, a reluctant-looking Star-Lord, dragging everyone’s luggage, followed sheepishly at the very back of the line and boarded the spaceship.
The hatch closed slowly.
Under the gaze of all humanity, the warship’s engines spewed dazzling blue light, rose from the ground, and turned into a shooting star in the sky.
...
Inside the warship.
Tony Stark set the autopilot mode.
In the main cabin, everyone found a seat and sat down.
Peter Parker, like a hyperactive child, clung to the porthole, watching the stars streaking by outside.
"Good heavens! This is so cool! Ned would never imagine where I am right now!" Peter shouted excitedly.
Tony saw this and mercilessly shut him down.
"Hey, Pajama Baby. I hope you still think it’s cool after you’re tangled up by those dark, slimy, tentacle-monster aliens."
"Stark, don’t scare the kid." Steve comforted. "Don’t worry, Peter. Aliens have hands and feet just like us."
