Chapter 68: Terrifying Buddha Heart Pill
Lu Changfeng nodded slightly, now with a basic understanding of the Saint Demon Sect’s strength.
However, contrary to what Lin Yuesheng believed, Lu Changfeng wasn’t at odds with the Saint Demon Sect.
Rather, for some unknown reason, they had mistaken him for their Saint Master.
Lu Changfeng didn’t know if this identity as Saint Master was sustainable or even reliable.
Or if it was all just a misunderstanding.
If it proved to be reliable and sustainable, he might as well make use of it and gain a powerful Sect as a trump card for free.
"It’s said that thousands of years ago, the Saint Demon Sect was universally condemned in the Martial Arts Realm."
"Now, as the Saint Demon Sect’s power has waned, they’ve become much more low-key in their dealings."
"Although they still operate under the banner of the Demon Dao, the Martial Arts Realm actually detests the newer, more active Demon Dao influences like the Profound Nether Sect and the Blood Evil Sect far more."
"The Saint Demon Sect now acts more like a figurehead for the Demon Dao in Song Country."
Lin Yuesheng concluded.
"Thank you for the three answers, Master Lin. I have no more questions. Farewell," Lu Changfeng said, rising and clasping his hands.
’No wonder the Saint Demon Sect has so little presence in the Martial Arts Realm, despite being one of the Three Major Sects.’
’They’ve fallen into decline, and their members have started to keep a low profile.’
Lu Changfeng had obtained the information he wanted at the Thousand Knowledge Sect’s small tower.
"Come back anytime~" Lin Yuesheng said with a broad smile, rising to see him off. The Thousand Knowledge Sect always made a point of staying on good terms with influential figures of the Martial Arts Realm like Lu Changfeng.
Lu Changfeng bid farewell to Lin Yuesheng and walked out of the Thousand Knowledge Sect’s tower.
Walking along Fengqi Street, Lu Changfeng considered whether he should visit the Taizhen Martial Arts Hall to check on Sikong Jue’s current condition.
’The replication cooldown is seven days.’
Lu Changfeng hoped that no accident would befall Sikong Jue within those seven days.
That way, he could safely secure his first Bloodline Talent.
’Bloodline Talents should be repeatable. If I copy Sikong Jue repeatedly, does that mean I can fuse one bloodline to one hundred percent?’
’Then I might be able to recreate the full power of an Ancient Bloodline.’
As Lu Changfeng was lost in thought, a middle-aged monk in a black robe stopped before him. "Amitabha Buddha. Might you be Donor Lu?"
Lu Changfeng looked up at the monk, his pupils contracting slightly.
Name: ??? (Unnamed Monk)
Root Bone: Upper A
Talents: High-Grade Talent [Fist Demon], High-Grade Talent [Golden Body]
’This monk doesn’t just have an Upper A Root Bone.’
’He also possesses two High-Grade Talents! This was the second-most talented Martial Artist Lu Changfeng had ever seen.’
Lu Changfeng had his suspicions about the man’s identity. "I am Lu Changfeng."
"Then I’m afraid I must be rude..."
The monk in the black robe suddenly threw a punch at Lu Changfeng.
A dark light pulsed from the fist, its momentum overwhelming. The mark between Lu Changfeng’s eyebrows activated almost instantly.
The moment he saw the small dagger-like mark on Lu Changfeng’s brow, the black-robed monk immediately halted his attack.
"Amitabha Buddha. My sincerest apologies. Please forgive this humble monk, Saint Master. I was only trying to confirm your identity."
The black-robed monk apologized sincerely, his palms pressed together.
Now that Lu Changfeng’s identity was confirmed, he harbored no other intentions.
Lu Changfeng took a shallow breath. Since the man’s allegiance was clear, he asked, "Which Demon Sect are you from?"
"I serve under the Holy Sect, from the Dark Buddha Demon Sect. Saint Master, you may call me by my dharma name, Xuansha."
’Xuansha...’ Lu Changfeng had never heard a dharma name so brimming with killing intent.
’I guess that’s the Dark Buddha for you.’
After a moment’s consideration, Lu Changfeng spoke. "I have my doubts about being your Saint Master. I know nothing about you, nor do I understand why you’ve identified me as such."
Xuansha’s expression remained unchanged. "It matters not. The Saint Master’s mark is confirmed. One day, you will come to understand your own identity, Saint Master."
Lu Changfeng frowned slightly. "We’re on a public street. You’d better not call me Saint Master."
"I was just about to suggest that myself. Thank you for your permission, Saint Master. For your safety, I shall temporarily refer to you as Donor Lu. Please do not take offense," Xuansha said, pressing his palms together.
The corner of Lu Changfeng’s mouth twitched. He felt as if the tables had been turned on him, but he had no way to argue back.
"Donor Lu, I have established a temple in the East Suburb of Jiangzhou Prefecture City. You may come find me there anytime you are in need."
"The next time the Demon Cave opens, I must insist that you return with me, Donor Lu," Xuansha continued.
Lu Changfeng asked, "And what if I refuse?"
Xuansha shook his head. "You will go, Donor Lu. The Holy Sect has been without a new Commander for hundreds of years. Only you can rally the Holy Sect’s forces once more."
"Donor Lu, this is a bottle of Buddha Heart Pills. They are a top-tier Holy Medicine of our Holy Sect, and will help you break through the bottleneck of the Blood Forging Realm."
Xuansha handed over a bottle of pills.
Lu Changfeng didn’t stand on ceremony. He took the bottle, opened it, and sniffed. A rich medicinal aroma wafted out, and the mere scent of it made the blood within him surge.
’This must be an extraordinary Spiritual Medicine.’
Xuansha added, "Donor Lu, if you need my assistance, remember to find me at the Killing Temple in the East Suburb. I will absolutely obey your commands!"
An idea struck Lu Changfeng. "If you have the time, you can help me collect more Swordsmanship manuals. Ones for the Blood Forging and Tendon Transformation Realms would both be acceptable. The more, the better."
"Also, could you give me a copy of the Cultivation Technique you practice?"
’Even Lu Changfeng himself felt his requests were a bit much.’
To his surprise, Xuansha agreed with a nod, not even pausing to think.
"I will have my disciples collect the Swordsmanship manuals and send them to your Martial Arts Hall periodically. As for the Cultivation Technique, I happen to have it on me right now."
Xuansha pulled an ancient-looking booklet from the folds of his robes and handed it over. A single glance was enough to tell it was the original copy of the Cultivation Technique.
"I shall take my leave."
Perhaps to put Lu Changfeng at ease, the moment he took the booklet, Xuansha turned and left without another word.
After watching Xuansha depart, Lu Changfeng didn’t linger on Fengqi Street either. He crossed the road and headed in the direction of Five Horses Street.
「Before long, Lu Changfeng arrived outside the Changle Martial Arts Hall.」
After a morning of bustling preparations, the Changle Martial Arts Hall was now festively decorated.
Everything was ready; they were just waiting for the Taihong Association’s Saintess to come to the Martial Arts Hall for the groom tomorrow.
Lu Changfeng glanced around, offered a word of praise, and then hurried to the Cultivation Chamber in the rear courtyard.
First, Lu Changfeng caught a small white rabbit that Chunzhu was raising in the rear courtyard. He then took out one of the Holy Medicine pills Xuansha had given him, scraped off some powder, and mixed it with water to feed the rabbit.
After licking up a few mouthfuls, the rabbit began to convulse. Then, its body swelled a full size larger, and it became incredibly energetic.
It started hopping around the courtyard, leaping three feet into the air.
"Such a powerful effect. It truly is a Holy Medicine."
Only after testing the medicine on the rabbit did Lu Changfeng feel safe enough to take one of the so-called "Buddha Heart Pills" himself.
As the Buddha Heart Pill went down, Lu Changfeng felt a fire ignite in his stomach. An Essence erupted from within him—one that was ten times purer than that of Moon Beast Meat and perfectly suited for his body to absorb.
A brilliant light flashed in Lu Changfeng’s eyes. He hefted his three-hundred-pound crude iron saber and began to frantically practice the Fengtian Forging Body Saber Skill.
After performing the set five times without a pause, the Essence within Lu Changfeng’s body was finally absorbed.
Now, Lu Changfeng was mentally exhausted, but his physical body remained full of vigor.
"What a terrifyingly potent effect. I’ve actually mastered the Third Layer of the Fengtian Forging Body Saber Skill."
With just a single Buddha Heart Pill, Lu Changfeng had broken through to the Third Layer of the Body Forging Saber Technique. Its potency had far exceeded his expectations.
Lu Changfeng opened the bottle and peered inside. There were eight more Buddha Heart Pills.
’Once I finish this bottle, I might even be able to break through to the Eighth Level of Blood Forging.’
